Sony releases Firefox OS experimental ROM for Xperia E

Sony confirmed that they are working on a Firefox OS device earlier this week. Now they have released a experimental ROM for Xperia E that would let developers try it our and get familiarise with the new OS. The Firefox OS is based on the open web standards that offers every feature in the phone developed as an HTML5 application and the user experience are developed by HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Sony Xperia Tablet Z Hands On

At its press event in Barcelona, Sony showed off its brand new Android tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Equipped with a gorgeous 10.1″ WUXGA display, the tablet also has Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 built in.

The screen with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 looks absolutely stunning especially when the Mobile Bravia engine kicks in for photos and videos. Sony Mobile to launch Firefox OS device in 2014

Mozilla previewed the first commercial build of its Firefox OS at the MWC 2013. The company had announced that Alcatel (TCL), LG, ZTE and Huawei would release smartphones running Firefox OS later this year. Telefónica one of the operator partners for the Firefox OS has announced that they have partnered with Sony Mobile to bring the Firefox-powered mobile devices next year. Sony Xperia Tablet Z to roll out globally from Q2 2013

Sony unveiled the Xperia Tablet Z in Japan last month. Here at MWC 2013 the company did not announced any new devices, but announced that it would roll out globally in Q2 2013. The Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, Shatter proof sheet on scratch-resistant glass and has unique OmniBalance design similar to the Xperia Z smartphone.  It has S-Force Front Surround 3D, Clear Audio+ mode and  two in-built speakers for enhanced audio output. Sony bags Katrina Kaif as brand ambassador for Xperia Smartphones


Sony India has announced Katrina Kaif as its Brand Ambassador for Xperia range of Smartphones.  Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor was announced as Sony’s brand ambassador, when Sony Ericsson XPERIA and VIVAZ phones were first launched in India back in 2010. Sony aims to boost the brand’s visibility in India with this new signup. Katrina Kaif was seen launching the BlackBerry Curve 9220 in India last year, but Ranbir Kapoor was roped in as the BlackBerry brand ambassador last year. Sony Xperia Z and ZL coming soon to India

The Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL were introduced at the Consumer electronics show 2013 at Las Vegas recently. With both of them sporting a 5 inch 1080p screen and a powerful Qualcomm APQ8064 processor, they generated quite a lot of buzz at the trade show. It was announced that the global roll out will be started soon, and the above image is the first clue that both the Xperia Z and ZL are landing in the Indian markets soon. As you can see above, straight from the horse’s mouth, the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are supposedly “coming soon” to India.

Sony Xperia T and Xperia V Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update starts rolling out


Sony Mobile has finally started rolling out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the 2012 Xperia devices starting from the Xperia T (9.1.A.0.489) and the Xperia V (v 9.1.A.0.490), as they promised. The Sony Xperia TX would get the update next month. The company confirmed Jelly Bean update for range of 2012 Xperia devices back in October. Sony Mobile introduces my Xperia remote security service for Xperia Smartphones

Sony Mobile has announced their own free remote security service called my Xperia for Xperia smartphones. This would let the Xperia users find the device remotely when it is lost, protect private information by locking the device or delete all the information on the device. Sony XPERIA Tablet Z announced for Japan

The XPERIA Tablet Z which was rumoured to launch at CES 2013 has finally got officially announced for the Japanese market today. This sexy looking Android tablet is barely 6.9mm thick and weighs around 495 grams. It is also dustproof and waterproof to a certain extent. The display is 10.1 inches in size and features the Mobile Bravia Engine found on most Sony mobile products these days. The resolution on the display is an impressive 1920×1200 pixels.The design looks very similar to the XPERIA Z and ZL smartphones we saw at CES 2013. Sony Xperia Tablet Z, the company’s new tablet is rumored to release soon, according to a new leak on Twitter. Sony unveiled the Xperia Tablet S last year at IFA, but the upcoming Xperia Tablet Z tablet is expected to come with high-end specifications including a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display, 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor, water-resistant (IPX5/7) and dust proof (IP5X) body. Sony Xperia ZL hands-on Video

Sony unveiled the Xperia ZL along with the Xperia Z at the CES 2013 last week. You saw the Xperia ZL photo gallery, and here we have the hands-on video of the device from the CES. The Xperia ZL has a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor similar to the Xperia Z. The phone has a unique design and has a plastic back, unlike the Xperia Z that comes with a glass back. There is a glowing LED indicator below the display and the phone also has an IR transmitter. The phone has metallic finish on the sides and the top. It runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Sony’s UI on top.

Sony unveiled the Xperia ZL at CES 2013 earlier this week. We got some hands-on time with the device at the Sony booth at CES. The Xperia ZL is packs almost similar features as the Xperia Z including a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 320 GPU. Sony Xperia ZL with 5-inch 1080p display, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor announced

Sony has announced Xperia ZL at CES 2013. This is a variant of the Xperia Z for select markets, and packs in similar features as the Xperia Z including a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2, 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 320 GPU and a 13MP camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and video. It is not water or dust resistant like the Xperia Z and doesn’t have a glass back, but comes with a glowing LED indicator below the display. It comes with PlayStation Mobile support.
