LG’s 5.5-inch Quad HD display gets certified, to be used in LG G3

LG Display has just announced that their 5.5-inch Quad HD LCD smartphone panel has been certified by NEMKO, Norway-based international testing and certification organization. LG announced their first Quad HD panel back in August last year and has a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels at a pixel density of 538ppi. It has the same 1.2 mm thickness, but this has 1.15 mm narrow bezel, 0.05 mm less than the panel introduced last year. Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Review

Samsung Note Pro 12.2 -13While Android tablets have proven to sell a fair few numbers in  the entry level segment, the upper end has so far been dominated by the iPad. Samsung design chief replaced amidst lukewarm Galaxy S5 response

Chang Dong-hoon, head of the mobile design team at Samsung Electronics offered to resign last week and has since been replaced according to a report published by Reuters. Lee Min-hyouk, the VP for Mobile Design at Samsung will be replacing Chang. Lee is well known for being the youngest senior executive at Samsung. Huawei has finally announced the Ascend P7, the successor of last year’s Ascend P6 at an event in Paris, France. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD IPS  touch-sensitive display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, powered by Huawei’s own 1.8 GHz quad-core processor with Mali-450 MP4 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Huawei own Emotion UI 2.3 on top. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony’s BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture and Huawei’s proprietary Image Signal Processor (ISP). Oppo Joy with 4-inch display launched in India for Rs. 8990

Oppo has launched Oppo Joy, the company’s latest budget Android smartphone in India. It was announced last month and packs a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA IPS sensitive touch screen with glove mode, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Color OS). It has a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It also has 3G connectivity and dual SIM support. Microsoft’s Surface mini reportedly uses a Qualcomm processor

Microsoft is all set to unveil the Surface mini, a 8 inch Windows tablet at an event in New York City on the 20th of May. It is just 13 more days until the announcement, and we don’t even know how it looks, but are finally starting to see some bits and pieces of information floating around the internet. Bloomberg’s Dina Bass reports that the Surface Mini will come with a Qualcomm processor, unlike its bigger brothers Surface RT and Surface 2, which run on rival Nvidia’s chips. Nokia was the only other OEM to come out with a ARM based Windows tablet in 2013, which coincidentally ran on the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Samsung filed for Samsung Gear Solo and Samsung Gear Now trademarks last month. Samsung Gear 2 Solo (SM-R710) has appeared on India import/export website Zauba. Only one unit of the smartwatch has been imported from Korea to Bangalore for R&D purposes. The price of the smartwatch is mentioned as Rs. 12,292. This listing was first spotted by MakTechBlog.

Microsoft updates OneDrive for Android with file sharing and sorting, bigger thumbnails and more

Microsoft which recently renamed its cloud storage service as OneDrive has updated the Android app with several features. The latest 2.5 version of the app allows users to share files by inviting people, sending a link, or you can even send files to another app.
