Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 smartphones in its new A Series, after several rumors.Both these smartphones have full metal unibody, slim designs. These are Samsung’s slimmest smartphone to date. The Galaxy A5 is just 6.7mm thick and the Galaxy A3 is 6.9mm thick. These are aimed at young and trend conscious consumers, says the company. Amazon Appstore offers over $115 worth apps and games for free for limited period

Amazon Appstore is back with another free apps offer. Today the company has announced that it would offer 39 paid Android apps and games worth over $115 for free on the Amazon AppStore starting Thursday, 30th October to Saturday, 1st November 2014. Last month the company offered 27 apps worth $135 for free . This time it offers some interesting apps like, Endomondo Sports Tracker PRO, Plex and games like Fruit Ninja, World of Goo, Plants vs. Zombies, Sonic Hedgehog 4 Episode I and more. Intex to launch new start screen interface for its smartphones based on Start by Celltick

After Karbonn, Intex has partnered with Celltick to launch an intelligent interface for its Android smartphones, based on Start launcher. Xiaomi tablet with 9.2-inch display, Snapdragon 410 SoC shows up in benchmarks

Xiaomi introduced their first tablet, the Mi Pad back in May, now a 9.2-inch tablet with 1280 x 720 pixels display and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU has surfaced on GFXBench database. The tablet that runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat), according to the listing, doesn’t have a name yet. This was first spotted by Gizmobic. Samsung profits fall in Q3 2014, mobile revenue down 15% QoQ

Samsung has reported its earnings for Q3 2014, in which the company has managed to make operating profit of 4.06 trillion won ($3.9 billion) for the quarter ended September 30, 2014, down from 10.16 trillion won compared to the same quarter last year. It has reported net profit of 4.22 trillion won ($4 billion) on revenues of 47.45trillion won ($45 billion), down 9% compared to the same quarter last year. LG Display has introduced a 5.3-inch Full HD LCD panel for smartphones with just 0.7mm bezel on the sides. The company introduced world’s slimmest 5.2-inch 1080p smartphone display last year, which was just 2.2mm thin with a 2.3mm bezel. The new smartphone display becomes the world’s narrow bezel display panel,  narrower than the 0.8mm thickness of a credit card. Sharp introduced the Aquos Crystal and Aquos Crystal X smartphones recently, which had minimal bezel. The Microsoft Band has 10 smart sensors, including a UV sensor for sun exposure and a galvanic skin response measurement.  It offers heart rate monitoring, fitness tracking, sleep quality tracking and more. It also offers notifications for your including incoming calls, emails, texts and more as well as access to Cortana.
