LG mobile losses widen as net profit falls 36% YoY in Q2 2018

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 15.02 trillion won (US$ 13.9 billion) for the second quarter that ended June 30, 2018, which is up 3.2% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 771 bilion won (US$ 715.1 million), up 16.1% YoY, while net profit was down to 326.5 billion won (US$ 291.6 million) from 514.9 billion won, down 36.5% YoY. First-half 2018 sales and operating profits were at all-time record highs. Revenues increased 3.2% from the 2017 first half to 30.14 trillion won (US$ 28 billion) and operating income rose 18.5% to 1.88 trillion won (US$ 1.7 billion). LG V90 trademark filing surfaces in Mexico

Details about the LG V40, the next flagship in the ‘V Series’  code-named ‘Storm’ surfaced back in April, now the Korean giant has filed for trademark of V90 in Mexico. This could be entirely a new smartphone for Mexican markets or the V40 could release as V90. The trademark filing that was registered on July 13th doesn’t reveal any other details of the smartphone except for the name.

LG V30 Plus Android Oreo update in India brings AI Cam, ThinQ branding

LG is finally rolling out the Oreo update to the LG V30 Plus which will turn the phone into LG V30 ThinQ with AI Camera. After updating, the start screen of the device will now show LG V30ThinQ branding instead of LG V30 Plus. LG Display said to supply 2 to 4 million OLED Panels for 6.5-inch Apple iPhone X Plus

Back in July 207, there were reports that Apple is on the verge of investing around $2.7 billion in LG to get OLED panels for future iPhones. However, we now hear that the Korean firm is almost ready to become Apple’s second supplier for OLED screens. LG X2 with 5-inch HD display, fingerprint sensor announced

LG has introduced X2, the company’s latest budget smartphone in Korea. It has a 5-inch HD screen, is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon SoC with 2GB of RAM, runs Android 7.1 (Nougat), has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, ‘Auto Shot’, which recognizes faces automatically when you take a self-portrait, ‘Quick Share’, which allows you to share pictures instantly via SNS or messages, and a 5-megapixel front camera.

LG offers exclusive BTS content for its smartphones, introduces BTS Smart Case for G7 ThinQ

Back in April this year LG Electronics signed South Korea’s most popular K-Pop boy band, BTS as its brand ambassador for smartphones globally. Today the company has introduced exclusive BTS-themed content for 2017 and 2018 LG smartphone models. The BTS Value Pack includes seven themes, one for each member of BTS. This completely transforms the UI including home screens, menus, dialing screens, among others.

LG Q7 and Q7+ with 5.5-inch FHD+Display, Snapdragon 450, dust and water-resistant body launched in Korea, price revealed

LG introduced its mid-range Q7 series of smartphones last month. Today the company launched the Q7 and Q7+ smartphones in Korea and also revealed the price of the phones. It also reveals that the phone will be  powered by 1.8 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC.  In addition to military grade durability with MIL-STD 810G, same as the predecessor, this is also IP68-certified for water and dust resistance. It also has Portrait mode, QLens, Hi-Fi quality audio, DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, and the Q7+ also comes with Hi-Fi Quad DAC.

Samsung Galaxy S10 said to ditch the earpiece for a 6.2-inch sound-emitting edge-to-edge display

Samsung showcased an interesting sound-emitting display concept at the Society of Information Displays (SID) 2018 expo last month. Samsung says that the panel uses vibration and bone conduction to eliminate the need for an earpiece. This also helps in extending the screen all the way from top to bottom. Looks like stylus phones are still a thing. LG has introduced Q Stylus smartphone lineup that includes Q Stylus+, Q Stylus and Q Stylus α as successor to last year’s  Stylus 3. It has a 6.2-inch FHD+ FullVision Display, is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-core / 1.8 GHz Octa-core SoC, depending on the model and runs Android 8.0 (Oreo). The top-end Q Stylus+ comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, as well as a 16-megapixel rear camera, while the Q Stylus and budget Q Stylus α comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. It retains the same 6-inch QHD+ OLED display, 6GB RAM, IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and MIL-STD 810G certification for reliability of equipment performance in harsh environments. and 3,300mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, Wireless charging. There is also V35+ ThinQ with 128GB storage.

LG V35 ThinQ live image, detailed specs surface, could go official alongside X5 2018 with 4500mAh battery and X2 2018

Details about the LG V35 ThinQ, an upgraded version of the V30S ThinQ  surfaced last month, and the press renders of the surfaced earlier this month. Now the phone has passed through Wireless Power Consortium database that reveals minimal bezels, and no notch for the smartphone. ETNews has also detailed the specifications of the phone that reveals HDR10 support for the OLED display.

LG G7 ThinQ roll out begins starting from Korea, official price revealed

LG introduced its flagship G7 ThinQ  smartphone earlier this month, and we got to know the price of the phone in UK and Europe from retailers, soon after the announcement.
