Lenovo has announced a recall of 83,500 (78,000 in the U.S. and 5,500 in Canada) ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation laptops (with machine type 20HQ, 20HR, 20K3 or 20K4), manufactured between December 2016 and October 2017 over concerns of fire hazard. It said that it has worked with United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for voluntary recall of these laptops. Lenovo has introduced the ThinkPad 11e and 11e Yoga, 500e Chromebook along with the 100e and 300e laptops that it had announced in association with Microsoft earlier today. Lenovo today has launched the Yoga 920 limited edition 2-in-1 glass convertible laptop in India. It is powered by the 8th generation Intel Quad Core U Series processors with integrated graphics and twin Thunderbolt USB-C ports. Microsoft today in association with Lenovo and JP unveiled low-cost windows 10 and Windows 10 S education laptops from Lenovo and JP, starting at just $189 (Rs. 12,050 approx.). The company is also said to bring new capabilities to Office 365 for Education software, and STEM learning fun with a new Chemistry update to Minecraft. Lenovo has partnered with Qualcomm and Microsoft to launch a Snapdragon powered Always Connected PC – Miix 630 at CES 2018. HP and Asus launched their products in December last year at the Snapdragon Summit. I got my hands on the Miix 630 2-1 detachable and it is a pretty nice effort by Lenovo.
Lenovo at the on-going CES 2018 show has announced the Mirage Solo standalone Daydream VR, Mirage VR streaming camera. Unlike the regular VR, the Mirage Solo doesn’t need a smartphone. The Mirage VR camera is a point and shoot camera designed to live stream 180-degree VR video.
