Google Pixel 5 with 6-inch FHD+ OLED 90Hz display and Pixel 4a 5G with 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display, Snapdragon 765G announced

Google just announced new Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G smartphones at its ‘Launch Night In’ event, as expected. The Pixel 5 comes with a 6-inch FHD+ OLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, and the Pixel 4a 5G comes with a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with 60Hz refresh rate. Both the smartphones are powered by Snapdragon 765G with 5G SA/NSA, come with Titan M Security chip, 12.2MP rear camera, OIS along with a 16MP 107° Ultra-wide secondary camera, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Google Messages app testing conversation categorizations

While most of us these days use WhatsApp, Telegram and other instant messaging services for our conversations, SMS is still a very prevalent way for users to receive OTPs, transaction confirmations, offers and of course a lot of spam too. Google is now reportedly testing a feature in their Messages app that will automatically categorize incoming SMS messages, reducing clutter.

Alternative app stores choices on Android to become easier to install soon

When Epic Games started a legal fight with Apple over the latter’s app store policies and high fee on app-store purchases, Epic Games also filed a lawsuit against Google on similar grounds. While Apple is fighting back against the lawsuit aggressively, Google is looking to make changes in their policies to make themselves appear less anti-competitive, announcing that they will be making it easier for users to select an alternative app store on Android 12.

Google Pay India now supports Tap-to-pay feature via Axis bank and SBI VISA cards

Google has announced a new partnership with VISA that will enable direct card payments on the app via a Tap-to-pay feature, with support on AXIS bank and SBI cards at launch. The feature will use the tokenization method to authenticate payments made by users at NFC-enabled POS terminals and online merchants.
