Research in Motion (RIM) has just launched new BlackBerry Premium Stores in 2 locations in Mumbai. They launched their first BlackBerry Premium Store in Delhi in April and in Gurgaon in May and in Bangalore recently. This app helps students prepare for competitive exams and is powered by intellectually rich and research-based content. It offers mock tests for premier MBA entrance exams such as CAT and CMAT. RIM has worked hard on the Blackberry 10 keyboard and it is not about to let anyone else copy its innovation. The keyboard on Blackberry 10 is now patented technology bringing users logic based text prediction.
In built word prediction keeps an eye out for typos and suggests new words as you type out the sentence while trying to complete commonly used phrases. For obvious reasons, this technology does not work in password fields. It seems that RIM might not have fully implemented this yet as it is a bit different from the keyboard on the Blackberry dev alpha device as we had reported recently. RIM has until early next year to refine the keyboard and deliver a solid product and a great keyboard should go a long way in that.

Research in Motion has been showing off teasers of its upcoming Blackberry 10 OS for a while now but admittedly their bigger problem is to get developers onboard their fledgling platform.
To make it easier for devs to test out their apps, RIM has been distributing developer units running a customized version of Playbook OS which should allow them to test run their apps on actual hardware. For all the claims that RIM is dead, they still have a stronghold on the corporate sector. RIM announced at the earnings call last week that the first BlackBerry 10 would only be available in Q1 2013. The 2013 roadmap for BlackBerry 10 devices has surfaced in the leaked slides. This shows the list of devices and the their release time. The 4G PlayBook would be released in the last quarter of this year as RIM said. They have already confirmed that PlayBook would get BlackBerry OS 10 post launch, which is expected in Q1 or Q2 2013 according to the roadmap. The BlackBerry 10 devices that would be available starting in Q1 2013 that includes BlackBerry L and N-series smartphones and a 10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook code named Blackforest for Q3 2013. As part of the earnings call report, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins has just announced a net loss of $518 million. For the first quarter of the 2013 fiscal year , the company has brought in 33% lesser revenue from the previous quarter accounting for $2.8 billion.

Tata Docomo has launched monthly service plan for new BlackBerry Curve 9320 and BlackBerry Curve 9220 smartphones for GSM customers in India that offers free calls, SMS and BlackBerry Internet service. N4BB has managed to get hold of RIM’s plans with its upcoming BlackBerry 10 based devices. On announcing the OS, rumors spread wide that the famed enterprise focused device manufacturer was about to ditch its much lauded QWERTY keypad. This rumor has now been debunked as N4BB has obtained details of a keypad packing N-Series device.
