After facing multiple hurdles when trying to rollout their new privacy policy, WhatsApp has now told the Delhi High Court that they will hold back on rolling out the update until the new Personal Data Protection Bill comes into force.

WhatsApp has been testing an option to use the service in multiple devices at the same time since 2019. WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in an interview with WABetaInfo have confirmed that the multi device support will be rolled out in a public beta within two months. However, there will be a limit, so you only connect up to 4 linked devices. WhatsApp on iPad might also be support using multi-device option.

WhatsApp is introducing three new updates for their Business customers. Businesses can now quickly set up their WhatsApp for Business accounts, have more options when sending automated messages to their customers and can also set up more quick replies for their customers.
WhatsApp earlier today filed a lawsuit against the Government of India, seeking to block the regulations saying that traceability of messages would break end-to-end encryption. As the new IT regulations will go into effect today, May 25th, 2021, various social media platforms in India have announced compliance with the new rules, or they are still in the process of becoming compliant. While some of these rules are reasonable to implement, some are not, and in response WhatsApp has now filed a lawsuit against the Government of India, seeking to block the regulations.
After the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) sent a letter to WhatsApp asking them to withdraw their Privacy Policy and TOS update. In response, WhatsApp has stated that the company will not be limiting functionality for users who are yet to accept the update, instead they will continue to show reminders to accept. WhatsApp also clarified that the update does not affect the privacy of their users’ personal messages.
WhatsApp was recently discovered to be developing a feature where users can transfer their chats between Android and iOS smartphones. The company is now reportedly expanding upon that feature by allowing the transfer of chats between phone numbers too.
