Microsoft bets big on healthcare; buys AI speech tech company Nuance for $19.7 Billion

In the latest development, Microsoft has announced the acquisition of Nuance Communications, in an all-cash transaction valued at $19.7 billion, inclusive of net debt. As a part of the deal, the Redmond tech giant will pay $56 per share for Nuance, a 23% premium over the closing price of Nuance on Friday, April 9. Microsoft reports $32.5 billion revenue with 12% YoY growth in Q4 2018, LinkedIn revenue up 29%

Microsoft has announced final quarter results that ended on 31st December 2018. When compared to the last fiscal year, the revenue is increased by 12% resulting in $32.5 billion, operating income is $10.3 billion with an increase of 18%, the net income was $8.4 billion, and the diluted earnings per share were $1.08 GAAP and $1.10 non-GAAP%. Cortana won’t challenge Alexa and Google Assistant, says Microsoft CEO

It’s no secret that Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant has fallen behind Google Assistant and Alexa, and it looks like Microsoft is taking a different route. The company’s CEO Satya Nadella revealed that Microsoft no longer sees Cortana as a competitor to Alexa or Google Assistant. “Cortana needs to be that skill for anybody who’s a Microsoft 365 subscriber,” explains Nadella.
