Cyanogen inked an exclusive deal with the popular Indian manufacturer Micromax, a couple of days ago. The terms of the partnership did create some confusion in the minds of the potential OnePlus One buyers in the country.

Pete Lau, the distinguished engineer from Oppo, had announced earlier that he left the company to pursue something new. It was known that it involved CyanogenMod and its CTO Steve Kondik, but now we know what exactly they are upto. Pete Lau is now the CEO of a new hardware start up called OnePlus, and unsurprisingly, its software partner will be Cyanogen Inc. which will power its phones, starting with the flagship “OnePlus One”. No, we are not making that up.

Over the past few months, Oppo has come up as one of the most notable smartphone brands emerging out of China. Ever since CyanogenMod announced the formation of a new company called Cyanogen Inc, there’s been a lot of drama involved within the team. Guillaume Lesniak, the person behind the rather awesome Focal camera app, has distanced himself from Cyanogen because of the changes in licensing.
