Much has been said about Apple’s iOS 7. The radical new change in the user interface launched for the public recently and it had surprised a lot of people, with most of them caught off guard. With the official and final release, more critics chimed in on how Apple got it all wrong. The animations caused nausea, some reported, the icons were too ugly, others said. The reactions have been funny as well as serious enough for Apple to keenly take notice, or at least we hope. On the matter of icons, we would agree too. They looked amateur and frankly, didn’t look like the work of talented Apple designers in our opinion. But here’s a wild thought! What if Apple had used Microsoft Word to design iOS 7?

We’d previously reported on expected dates for Apple’s upcoming event and invites have now been sent out for the same. Apple will be holding its October 22nd media event at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts in San Francisco. The Cupertino based company will be showcasing its new iPad models at the event. India’s leading mobile operator Bharti Airtel just announced that it would offer the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C on the Airtel network starting from November 1st. This news comes after Apple announced that it was indeed launching the new iPhone in India on November 1st. Reliance Communications also announced that it going to offer the new iPhones on its network. Historically Apple has launched the iPhone on Airtel and Vodafone and Aircel made it to the list recently. Reliance is the new addition this year.

Reports say that Apple might be reducing the production of it’s iPhone 5C by 50% – from 300,000 units to 150,000 units. The source which leaked of the iPhone 5S and 5C before their announcements, claims that the reason behind this is the fall in the Grey market pricing for the phone.

The Apple iPhone 5s that we unboxed earlier is very much an “s” upgrade of the 5. The first upgrade for the 3g to the 3gs involved a better 3.2 megapixel camera, the second one from 4 to the 4s brought a 8 megapixel camera and the difference in quality was massive, and now we are at the third “s” upgrade which has brought upon significant improvements for the camera, but this time, it’s not about the megapixels. Apple has subverted the megapixel movement and, much like what HTC did, has improved the pixel size. The pixel size might be a marginal increase but Apple claims that it really shows in the photos. Well, does it?
That’s exactly what we are going to see below, with several camera samples from our iPhone 5s for an objective look at the quality. We’ll be comparing it with the iPhone 5 and several other devices at a later stage, but for now, dive in!
This really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone but Apple’s upcoming fall event has been scheduled for 22nd October. Cupertino is expected to show a whole host of devices though the updated iPads will lead the announcements.
The next gen iPad will see a slight mix up in terms of design. Expect to see a slimmer tablet with smaller bezels akin to the iPad Mini. Internally, it’ll pack the A7x chip possibly paired with double the amount of RAM. The iPad Mini too will see an update with the processor being upgraded as well as RAM. There are conflicting reports out there that suggest that we’ll see either the A6 or A7 processor under the hood. Either way, expect to see a decent speed bump on the tablet. Apple is evidently testing variants of the iPad Mini with and without a Retina Display and is apparently struggling with battery consumption. With the yearly iPad refresh right around the corner, we’re starting to see leaked images of the upcoming products. Spotted first on Weibo, we now have our first glimpse of the upcoming iPad Mini 2 housing. Expected to ship in all the same colors as the new iPhone 5s, the iPad Mini 2 was spotted in both space gray and gold. The three colors are expected to be silver, space grey and gold which are the same as that of the new iPhone 5s. A recent change to the Apple Care+ plan now enables service coverage even when traveling abroad. Just after the announcement of the iPhone 5s and the 5c Apple had raised the Care+ coverage for accidental damage from $49 to $79 and with that news, along comes the info that travelers traveling abroad would be able to avail this service for a phone in any country where Service is possible. And surprise, that list includes India. Currently, the Apple Care+ plan is non-existent here and previously, Apple Care+ used to work only in the home country, so for people buying phones abroad from India, this is good news.
The Apple iPhone 5c, as you know by now, is the company’s only coloured iPhone. It landed in our labs yesterday and we had promptly unboxed it, you should check it out if you haven’t already. The Apple iPhone 5s and 5c have been the fastest selling iPhones combined for Apple, with them seeing more than 9 million getting sold over just 3 days, but one thing that has been evading everyone’s hands and eyes has been the gold edition of the iPhone 5S. It has been sold out in nearly ever market the 5S has launched. Fortunately though, we have got our hands on the elusive Gold edition in the Hong Kong Apple Store. Apple has just announced that they have sold a record-breaking 9 million new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C models in just three days after the launch on September 20th. These devices were launch in range of countries including, US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK. Demand for the iPhone 5S has exceeded the initial supply, and many online orders are pushed to next month, says the company.
