Speedtest.net app for iOS gets huge update including new UI and iPhone 5 support

If you  are a Speedtest.net addict like me, and if you happen to have an iOS device, the internet speed testing app for iOS got a huge update including a all new UI and support for iPhone 5. In the above screenshot you can see the new app UI which shows how the iPhone 5 is clocking crazy fast speeds over Vodafone’s 3G network here in Chennai. You can even share the speedtest result from within the app to Twitter, Facebook, email and SMS.

There is even an option to remove ads if you pay $1 or Rs.55. Much needed update for this app which is very useful when testing network speeds. If you already have the app installed on your iPhone, you must have the update notification within the app store.

Samsung released the Galaxy Grand Duos in India back in January. We brought you the Galaxy Grand Duos photo gallery earlier today, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Broadcom BCM28155 processor based on ARM Cortex-A9 and VideoCore 4 GPU. It has a 5-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display at 186 ppi pixel density. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

Intex is all set to release two new Android smartphones in the Aqua range. We spotted the Aqua Star and the Aqua SX, the company’s upcoming affordable Android smartphones on their website. The Intex Aqua SX has almost similar features as the Aqua S including a 3.5-inch (480×320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and is powered by a 1 GHz processor . This packs a 1450 mAh battery. The Intex Aqua Star would come with a 4-inch display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Unboxing

Almost six months have passed since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini in Europe. It never reached the subcontinent as Samsung had planned to launch other devices with similar specifications here, like the Galaxy S Duos, which is basically a Dual SIM version of the Galaxy S3 mini. However, there are lots of differences between the S3 mini and the S Duos when it comes to the internals. Just for comparisons sake, you have to know that the S3 mini looks exactly like the S Duos. Videocon makes incoming calls free on roaming


Videocon Mobile Services has become the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on Roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. TRAI issued a Consultation Paper One Nation, Free Roaming, on Review of Tariff for National Roaming under its National Telecom Policy 2012. Airtel introduced a new roaming pack for prepaid customers in Delhi recently that offers free incoming calls while roaming in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and West Bengal (except Kolkata). Micromax A116 Canvas HD shipments delayed, price increased to Rs. 14499

Micromax unveiled the A116 Canvas HD with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor back in January. It was originally priced at Rs. 13990, and the company started selling the device through online retailer Snapdeal starting from February 14th. They sold over 9000 units of the A116 Canvas HD in the first 24 hours, and started taking pre-orders for the device since all the lots were sold out. Google Keep is official, brings synced notes to web and Android

Google’s note taking and list making app, Keep, had shown up previously on Drive but has now been officially announced. The app which works on web and on Android phones running 4.0 and above can best be described as a simplified version of Evernote. The application allows the creation of notes and lists which are saved on Google Drive. You can download the app here.

These are synchronized across all your Android devices. Users also get a home screen and lock screen widget to make taking notes a single tap affair. It is possible to attach images and voice memos to notes. Additionally, the service supports transcription which will let you convert voice memos into text. Google Keep allows you to customize the color of the note and completed items can be archived or deleted. The notes can be accessed on the web via the drive.google.com/keep url.

There is no iOS or Windows Phone application yet. One area where the app falls short is shared note editing or any sort of social features other than sharing via the standard Android share menu.
