HTC Desire 816 Benchmarks

HTC launched the Desire 816, a mid-range smartphone in the Desire series in India recently. It went on sale in the Indian market earlier this week and we already brought you the unboxing of the smartphone recently. Here we have the benchmarks it. The Desire 816 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with four ARM Cortex A7 Cores and Adreno 305 GPU. It has a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat)  with HTC’s own Sense UI on top. Let us check how it performs in a range of synthetic benchmarks. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Android 4.4 KitKat update starts rolling out

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200) starting from Russia, according to Sammobile. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 got the KitKat update in January,  Galaxy S4 got the update in February and the Galaxy Note 2 got the update earlier this month in India. Internal documents that got leaked recently revealed that the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 would get the KitKat update in June, but Samsung has rolled out the update earlier than expected. ING Vysya Bank has launched its ING Vysya Mobile app for Windows Phone users. The app has a unique balance meter that induces customer to keep more balance in the account and remain in the Green Zone. There is also an option to turn off this feature. Other features include, option to scan and store cheque images for future reference, send sms to beneficiary after fund transfer, locate nearest ATM or branch and more. Airtel launches 3G services in Punjab

Airtel has launched 3G services in Punjab. It rolled out 4G services in Chandigarh – Tricity last year and in Ludhiana in Punjab last week. It offers 2G, 3G and 4G services in these two areas in Punjab and it also offers 4G on mobile in Ludhiana. Samsung announces Simband, a wearable open health platform

At the Voice of the Body event few hours back, Samsung announced Simband, an open hardware reference design for wearable technology, that has most advanced sensing technologies that could be used to track measurements such as heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure using the wrist-mounted band that has a modular array of sensors on the bottom. The Simband is being designed in a modular way, allowing for innovation in areas like battery life, form factor and noninvasive sensor technology, says Samsung.

This has a unique Broadcom design that enables multiple devices with different power requirements such as tablets, smartphones or a smartwatch charge at the same time, without the trouble of accurate positioning or alignment. Google Camera 2.2 update brings new panorama modes, timer and more

Google has started rolling out a new (v2.2) update for the Google Camera app for Android users that brings a lot of new features, including new panorama modes, option to set a timer, take a snap while shooting video and more. The company released the Google Camera, a standalone camera app for Android smartphones last month on Google Play that brought SLR-like Lens Blur mode. After releasing the Xolo A510s Lite, Xolo is all set to release new smartphones in its Q CORE series. The Xolo Q600s, successor of last year’s Q600 and the Xolo Q1200 are now available from online retailer Snapdeal. The Q600s would be the company’s first smartphone to run on Android 4.4 (KitKat). The company has already promised Android KitKat update for a range of older devices. With a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM, this aims to compete with other budget smartphones like Moto EMicromax Unite 2 A106 and the Lava Iris X1. Apple to acquire Beats for $3 billion

After several reports, Apple today confirmed that it has agreed to buy Beats Music and Beats Electronics for a total of $3 billion. Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will join Apple along with their team of employees. Apple will pay $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in stock.
