MediaTek has just announced the 64-bit LTE SOC MT6732 at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, as rumored. It has a 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T760 GPU for powerful LTE smartphone aimed at mid-range segment. Mozilla announces Firefox OS reference smartphone, tablets from Foxconn and VIA

Mozilla has annonuced new developer reference smartphone and tablets at the Mobile World Congress. These include a 4.5″ dual-core reference phone called Firefox OS Flame, 7-inch VIA Vixen tablet and a 10-inch Foxconn InFocus tablet. It has also announced new Firefox OS PhoneGap mobile application development framework integration, that lets PhoneGap developers to port their existing apps to Firefox OS in a matter of hours. LG announces LG F70 and LG F90, midrange LTE smartphones

LG is having a busy day at MWC 2014 and have just announced the LG F70 and LG F90, entry range smartphones with LTE connectivity. LG has announced its latest flagship LG G Pro 2 as well LG G2 Mini at the event and it is also targeting the entry range LTE market with the LG F70 and LG F90.

Nokia Lumia 630 press image leaks ahead of launch

Just a day before the Nokia press conference at the Mobile World Congress, the Nokia Lumia 630 has appeared in the form of a press image. Evleaks, the prolific twitter account known for accurate leaks had posted this image with no extra information. The Lumia 620 was launched at Le Web sometime last year and the 630 clearly looks like a similarly designed successor. With a similarly small and rounded design, the Lumia 630 might just be an evolution in the internals rather than a full fledged successor with a different design.

It has a 7-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s own Emotion UI on top. Huawei has just announced the Ascend G6 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. As rumored, most of the specifications are bang on. It has a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels )IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 4.3 with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 2.0 on top. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, LED flash, Sony IMX134 sensor and blue glass infrared filter or sharp, clear images. It has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with four plastic element (4P) lens and 88 degree wide-angle.

Microsoft partners with 9 more manufacturers for more Windows Phones

One of the main reasons that Windows Phones haven’t sold as much as Android smartphones is because of the lack of manufacturers. At launch, Microsoft had only a handful of manufacturers and as Windows Phone grew, the number of manufacturers shrunk and at one point, Microsoft bought out Nokia, which was probably the only company making Windows Phones.
