Xiaomi Redmi 5, successor of last year’s Redmi 4 has surfaced in renders that also reveals the specifications and price. Similar to the Redmi 4, the Redmi 5 is also said to come in two different versions with Snapdragon 625 or 630 Mobile Platform. It is expected to come wiht an improved 16-megapixel rear camera, run Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) based MIUI 9, but is said to come with a slightly smaller 3680mAh battery compared to 4000mAh battery. Samsung SM-G9600 and SM-G9650 with Snapdragon 840 and 845 surface in benchmarks

Luxury smartphone maker Vertu is shutting down its operations in the UK. The company was bought by a Chinese holding firm in 2015 and then acquired by a Turkish businessman Murat Hakan Uzan, earlier this year for £50 million. It is reported that Vertu was running on a deficit of £128 million.

We still don’t know the final name of the phone, but TechPP that got hold of the images of the phone says that the phone runs KAI OS, a forked version of HTML5-based Firefox OS that was killed by Mozilla last year. Google Play Movies adds support for 4K HDR streaming

Google has added support for 4K HDR streaming for Play Movies. However, the support is currently available for users of the Chromecast Ultra streaming dongle. HDR (High Dynamic Range) video essentially improves color reproduction and contrast in videos. Compared to HD quality (1920 x 1080 pixels), 4K UHD has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Asus just launched the Zenfone AR smartphone in India as it had promised. It is compatible with both Tango AR platform and Google’s Daydream VR platform and was announced as the world’s first smartphone with 8GB of RAM. It has a 23-megapixel main camera with a motion tracking camera and a depth sensing camera that supports Tango’s AR capabilities. It also has 0.03-second Asus TriTech System that uses PDAF, laser auto focus and subject-tracking autofocus for quick focus.
