Samsung reports record profits in Q1 2018, up 58% YoY, mobile profits up 82% YoY

Samsung has reported its earnings for Q1 2018, in which the company has made operating profit of 15.64 trillion won ($14.4 billion), up 58% YoY for the January-March 2018 period. This is a fourth straight record profit, and new all-time high quarterly profit, due to strong sales in Semiconductor Business and the early global launch of the Galaxy S9.

Ather S340 ‘Made in India’ smart electric scooter pre-orders begin in June, production to start in July

Ather Energy, introduced S340 as the first ‘Made in India’ smart electric scooter couple of years back. Today, the company has finally announced that after 4 years, 55 prototypes, 50,000 km in on-road testing and over a million man hours, the S340 is finally ready for commercial production, which is expected to start in July, and the trial production has already begun. Earlier this year the company started receiving pre-production components from its 100+ suppliers and vendors and it also set up an assembly line in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

Twitter reports $61 million profit in Q1 2018, has 336 million monthly active users

Twitter has revealed financial results for Q1 2018. The company has generated a total revenue of $665 million, an increase of 21% year-over-year, or an increase of 27% year-over-year when excluding the approximately $23 million of revenue in Q1’17 from fully-deprecated TellApart product. The company has reported the quarterly GAAP net income at $61 million, compared to a net loss of $62 million in

Xiaomi promises its hardware business model and overall net profit margin will never exceed 5%

Xiaomi at the Mi 6X launch event in China has also made a separate announcement where it promised that the overall net profit margin will never exceed 5%.
