Smartphone vendors shipped nearly 346 million devices during first quarter of 2021, according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. The strong growth came from all regions with the greatest gains coming from China and Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan and China), said the report. LG Electronics today reported Q1 2021 earning results that ended March 31, 2021 for which is reported revenue of 18.81 trillion won (US$ 16.90 billion), up 27.69% YoY and the highest quarterly results in the company’s history with 1.51 trillion won operating profit, up 39% YoY, which is a first-quarter record for the company. Samsung has reported its earnings for Q1 2021 that ended March 31, 2021 in which the company has made an operating profit of 9.38 trillion won, up 40.3% YoY. Apple has reported quarterly revenue of $89.6 billion, an increase of over $31 billion or 54% from a year ago. It posted a net profit of $23.6 billion, up 29.7% YoY and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $1.40 for the financial year Q2 2021 that ended March 27, 2020. POCO F1, launched back in 2018, has almost reached EOL in terms of official software support. The smartphone has already received two major Android version upgrades – Android 9, and Android 10 since its launch.
