Google at the British Education and Training Technology (BETT) Show in London introduced Acer Chromebook Spin 11 (R751T) and Asus Chromebook C213 for education. Both these have a 11.6 inch (1366 × 768) touchscreen display. The Acer Chromebook Spin 11 also has military grade durability (U.S. MIL-STD 810G compliant) and comes with a stylus powered by Wacom EMR (Electro-Magnetic Resonance) technology. LG posts first quarterly operating loss in 6 years in Q4 2016, mobile revenue down 21% YoY due to weak G5 sales

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 1.34 trillion won (US$ 1.16 billion) in Q4 that ended December 31, 2016, which is up 12.2% compared to the same quarter last year, but it has reported operating loss of 35.2 billion won (US$30.1 million), compared to a profit of 348.9 billion won for the same quarter in 2015. Intex has launched Cloud Q11 4G, the company’s latest budget smartphone in the Cloud series with VoLTE support. The successor of last year’s Cloud Q11 has a 5.5-inch HD display, runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, has a 8-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has an LED flash, similar to the predecessor, but this is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor. Apple has released iOS 10.3 beta for developers that brings several new features including a feature that helps you find misplaced AirPods. It keeps track of the last known location where AirPods were connected to an iOS device over Bluetooth. It also allows users to play a sound to locate a lost AirPod. It also brings cricket sports scores and stats for Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council for Siri. TCL Communication Technology (TCT) at the CES 2017 earlier this month teased a new BlackBerry smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard codenamed Mercury and said that it will be introduced a the MWC 2017 in February. Over 2.5 lakh Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 smartphones sold out in 10 minutes in first sale

Xiaomi launched its most expected Redmi Note 4 smartphone in India last week. It went on open sale at 12PM yesterday. Yesterday it did not announce the number of units it sold. Today it has revealed that it sold over 2,50,000 units of Redmi Note 4 units in just 10 minutes on both Flipkart and Mi.com. Xiaomi said that the first sale of Redmi Note 4 witnessed more than 3x and 5x quantity of the first sale of Redmi 3S and Redmi Note 3 respectively.

Huawei’s Honor brand introduced the Honor 6X smartphone for global markets earlier this month at the CES 2017. Today it has launched the smartphone in India, as it had promised. It was introduced in China last year, has a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 655 16nm processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with EMUI 4.1. Samsung profits up 50% YoY in Q4 2016 despite Galaxy Note7 recall

Samsung has reported its earnings for Q4 2016, in which the company has made operating profit of 9.22 trillion won ($7.9 billion), up 50.2% YoY for the quarter that ended December 31, 2016. It reported revenues of 53.33 trillion won, almost same as Q4 2015 and net profit of 7.09 trillion won (US$ 6.1 billion), compared with 3.22 trillion won a year earlier.
