Google releases final Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 5 with iOS support

Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 5

Google introduced Android Wear smartwatch support for iPhone back in 2015. Now it has finally brought iOS support for Android Wear 2.0 in the Developer Preview 5 head of final roll out next month. This lets developers test Android Wear 2.0 on iPhone and distribute your apps to iPhone-paired watches as well.

With the latest developer preview, Android Wear apps running on watches paired with iOS devices will be able to perform phone hand-off flows such as OAuth and RemoteIntent for launching a web page on a paired iOS device.

The update doesn’t bring any new firmware for Android Wear watches but it includes an update to the Wearable Support Library as well as seeral enhancements and bug fixes. Google has announced that Android Wear 2.0 will release in early February, which is rumored to be February 9th.

You can download the updated Android Wear v1.8 app for iPhone with support for Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview from Apple iTunes Store here.
