Aircel announced a new first-of-its-kind Free Basic Internet offer for its customers last month. Today it launched it in Jammu & Kashmir. All new prepaid customers in J&K can now browse and actively use their favorite applications such as Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter at Rs. 144, which offers unlimited data with a speed of 64Kbps and 90 days validity. The offer is aimed at fuelling mobile internet adoption in J&K, keeping in view that a considerable population of mobile phone users is still offline, said the company.

Samsung introduces BRITECELL camera technology

Samsung introduced the first 16MP camera sensor with 1.0 micron pixels for smartphones back in July. The sensor is just 5mm high, about 20 percent thinner than current 1.12 micron-pixel based 16MP sensors, hence it has minimal camera protrusion without compromising on resolution. At the Samsung Electronics 2015 Investors Forum earlier this week, it introduced (Via) new BRITECELL or Bright cell technology, which replaces traditional green pixel in the RGB, a value pattern with a white pixel to create RWB for brighter images even in low lighting conditions. HTC has introduced One M9s in Taiwan, which is the version of One M9e that was introduced last month in China. It packs a 5-inch 1080p display, is powered by an 2.2GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) Octa-Core 64-bit processor and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with HTC Sense UI on top. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, optical image stabilization (OIS) and an UltraPixel front-facing camera. It has dual front-facing BoomSound speakers and Dolby Audio. Today it has released an updated version of the tablet as SHIELD tablet K1 with minor changes that includes, silicon grips that will make it easier to hold and of course a new battery, just in time for the holidays. Google Chromebit compact Chrome OS stick announced for $85

Google introduced Asus-made Chromebit dongle, a compact stick running Chrome OS back in April. Today Asus and Google have launched the Chromebit. It plugs directly into the HDMI port on a TV or monitor to turn it into a desktop PC offering 1080p output. It has a fan-less design, but if it gets too hot (over 35-degrees), Chromebit will shut down automatically to prevent overheating, according to Asus. Microsoft delays Project Astoria, emulation tool to port Android apps to Windows

Microsoft announced its plans to launch tools for developers to quickly port Android and iOS apps to Windows 10 earlier this April. The tool for porting Android apps is called Project Astoria and the iOS porting tool is called Project Islandwood. The company did not launch Astoria publicly even months after the announcement. Now there are reports from Re/code and Windows Central saying that Project Astoria is on hold indefinitely, and maybe even shelved completely, but Microsoft doesn’t want to talk about it now, saying that Astoria bridge is not ready yet. Rdio, one of the popular music streaming service has filed for Chapter 11, seeking protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court. “Upon approval of the proposed transaction by the bankruptcy court, Rdio will be winding down the Rdio-branded service in all markets,” said the company. Rdio launched its services in India earlier this year after acquiring Dhingana, India’s popular online music streaming service back in March last year. Google today said that Google Search app will now understand more complex queries. It can now break down a query to understand the semantics of each piece. The app is starting to truly understand the meaning of what you’re asking, said the company. Google introduced voice search in 2008, and the Knowledge Graph in 2012. Knowledge Graph that powers the Google Search app cards got updated earlier this year to add details about common health conditions. LG today announced that it will launch Spirit LTE and G4 Stylus 4G smartphones with VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) and VoWiFi (Voice Over Wi-Fi) in India in partnership with Reliance Retail. These features will enabled faster transmission of data and voice, said the company. LG launched the 3G version of the Spirit smartphone and the G4 Stylus in India earlier this year.
