Meta has released their earnings report for the last quarter 2021, along with earnings for the entire 2021 fiscal year. The company recorded $117.9 billion revenue during 2021, which is a 37% YoY growth, and the net income was recorded at $39.37 billion, which is growth of 35% YoY. In Q4 2021, they recorded $33.67 billion in revenue, growing 20% YoY, while the net income was $10.2 billion, declining 8% YoY.
The latest version of Google’s Messages app has revealed a couple new changes that may possibly arrive in a future update. Google is reportedly looking to change the UI in the app to forgo the overflow menu in favour of a navigation drawer instead, and there might be a new Google Photos media upload feature.
Back in 2020, Google introduced a new VPN feature for Google One subscribers of the 2TB or higher plan on Android. The company has now expanded the feature to Google One subscribers on iOS devices, and it can be shared with up to 5 family members.

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, had a successful last quarter in 2021, earning a revenue of $75 billion and growing 32% YoY. For the fiscal year 2021, the company recorded $257.6 billion in revenue which calculates to a growth of 41% YoY. 2021 was also a great year for the Google Pixel smartphones, as the phone saw its highest-ever quarterly shipments in Q4 2021.
Since its rebrand last year, Meta has been working towards their goal of creating a metaverse. One of the major components of this metaverse are the digital avatars used by individuals to represent themselves. The company has revealed an updated version of 3D avatars that can be used in stickers, feed posts, Facebook profile pictures and more.

Lately, the console wars between Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox seem to be focused in another direction – acquisition of game studios. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, the Indian smartphone market recorded its highest ever shipments of 169 million units in 2021, growing an impressive 11% YoY. However, the market did witness a decline of 8% YoY during Q4 2021, and the top 5 manufacturers were Xiaomi, Samsung, vivo, realme, and OPPO.
The worldwide smartphone market shipped a total of 46 million units during the fourth quarter of 2021, declining 11.9% YoY. For the entire year, the market shipped 168.8 million units, which is the highest since 2016. Chromebooks on the other hand declined 63.6% YoY during Q4 2021, but managed to grow 13.5% for the entire 2021 year.
After cancelling nearly 1000+ flights over the deployment of Verizon and AT&T’s C-Band 5Gservice, the FAA has come to an agreement with the two mobile carriers to allow more aircraft to land in key airports in the USA and also deploy more towers around these airports.

The global smartphone market witnessed an overall growth of 5.7% in 2021 when compared to 2020, after shipping a total of 1.35 billion units. However, the market did witness a a decline in shipments during Q4 of 2021, shipping a total of 362.4 million phones, which calculates to 3.2% YoY decline.

AMD has partnered with MediaTek to unveil their newest Wi-Fi solution, called the AMD RZ600 Series Wi-Fi 6E modules. It features the MediaTek Filogic 330P chipset inside and is designed to power the next-generation AMD Ryzen-series laptop and desktop PCs starting 2022 onwards.
