Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in India last week starting at Rs. 9,999. It packs a 4100mAh built-in battery, slightly bigger than than the 4000mAh battery on the Redmi Note 3, has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm processor in India. Xiaomi launched its most expected Redmi Note 4 smartphone in India last week. It went on open sale at 12PM yesterday. Yesterday it did not announce the number of units it sold. Today it has revealed that it sold over 2,50,000 units of Redmi Note 4 units in just 10 minutes on both Flipkart and Mi.com. Xiaomi said that the first sale of Redmi Note 4 witnessed more than 3x and 5x quantity of the first sale of Redmi 3S and Redmi Note 3 respectively.

Hugo Barra, who joined Xiaomi as Vice President of Xiaomi Global back in August, 2013 from Google has announced his departure from the company. He said that he will go back to Silicon Valley in February after Chinese New Year. He says that his decision has been strongly motivated by a feeling of detachment from his family and the life he had built up in Silicon Valley. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, similar to the Redmi Note 3, but this is powered by a an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 SoC, instead of Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 processor on the Redmi Note 3. It runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with MIUI 8 top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Xiaomi last week confirmed that it will be launching a new product on January 19th, which will likely be the Redmi Note 4. Now Flipkart has announced that it will be exclusively available on its store. The teaser says All New All-Rounder is Coming to Flipkart and also mentions Ravindra Jadeja. Xiaomi has set new targets for 2017. The Chinese smartphone maker has revealed that it is targeting more than 100 billion yuan ($14.5 billion) in revenue in 2017. Xiaomi Chief Executive Lei Jun said “the worst is over” and touted 2016 as a “make-up year”.

Xiaomi is reportedly working on Mi 6, successor of the Mi 5. A new leak has revealed that the Mi 6 will come in two variants – one with dual curved display and other with a flat screen display. The Xiaomi Mi 6 could have 4G of RAM and a flat screen display, while the Mi 6 Pro could have 6GB of RAM and a curved display. It looks like Xiaomi is taking cue from Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
