Gionee launched the Elife S5.1, the company’s thinnest smartphone in India yesterday at a price tag of Rs. 18,999. It is the successor of the Gionee Elife S5.5 that was launched earlier this year. This even holds a Guinness record for the world’s slimmest smartphone, but it is now dethroned by the Oppo R5 that is just 4.85mm thick. LG introduced the G Watch R, the company’s second Android Wear smartwatch and the successor of the G Watch ahead of IFA. It is the second Android Wear smartwatch with a circular display after the Motorola Moto 360. It went on sale in the U.S. on Google Play recently, priced at $299. Microsoft introduced the Microsoft Band, a fitness tracker for US$ 199. This is the first fitness band from Microsoft, and it works with Android and iOS devices too, in addition to Windows Phone 8.1 devices. We managed to get one from the U.S. Here is the unboxing of the Microsoft Band.

Last week Huawei unveiled their latest attempt to crack the European market; dubbed the Honor 6, it’s something different from Huawei’s usual handsets and unlike the Ascend range, the Honor 6 (and presumably future devices in the range) do not come with Huawei branding. The Chinese manufacturer has previously suffered bad publicity in the UK and Europe – over allegations that it sends user data back to servers in China that the Chinese government can access – and the Honor 6 is designed to offer the complete Huawei package without any negative stigma attached.
