SanDisk just announced the Connect Wireless Stick, a small USB flash drive that also doubles up as a Wi-Fi media server. It will allow customers an easy way to access their files over multiple devices.

The device looks like a regular flash drive but has built in wireless capabilities that allow you to connect three devices at a time to access the files on it. All you have to do is copy the files and then switch on the wireless functionality and connect to it to access them.

The best part is that you don’t even need to connect it to a computer or a USB port as there is a built in battery that will keep the device running for around 4 and half hours. This will be a useful tool especially for those with devices that don’t have expandable memory and sort of works like a wireless USB OTG.

There is a SanDisk Connect app that allows you to access your content over a password protected WiFi connection and since this doesn’t require you to use up your cellular data bandwidth, it is cheaper as well compared to downloading from the cloud. The Connect Wireless Stick will be available in 16, 32, 64 and 128GB variants costing US$29.99-99.99 depending on the storage model you choose. The device currently supports only Android and will be available in the USA only but we expect it to be made available in other regions and on other platforms very soon.
