These new images show the hardware in detail, including metal keys for the volume rocker and power button, micro USB and HDMI ports on the side, NFC support, micro SIM slot, micro SD card slot and a 1800 mAh battery. MediaTek launches MT6589 quad-core chip aimed at mid to high-end Android devices


MediaTek has launched MT6589 System on a Chip (SoC), aimed at mid to high-end Android smartphones and tablets. It has power-efficient quad-core Cortex A7 CPU from ARM, PowerVR Series5XT GPU and multi-mode UMTS Rel. 8/HSPA+/TD-SCDMA modem. It is built on 28nm process technology. This also has Dual-SIM support with Dual-Active functionality and the MT6589 is the world’s first HSPA+ smartphone to come with this feature. MediaTek launched MT6577 dual-core processor few months back, that powers the latest Micromax, Spice and Intex devices. Reports about the quad-core MediaTek chips started back in September. HTC Windows Phone 8X gets new SMS features and ‘keep on WiFi’ via update

Microsoft is pushing out an OTA update for the HTC Windows Phone 8X which will add some much needed features to the flagship device. Windows Phone users have always complained about the WiFi switching off as soon as you turn off the screen, this has been fixed or rather made optional after the update. Users can now now opt to keep the WiFi switched on even when the screen is off.

Called the “Portico” update, It also adds new SMS centric features. Users now have the ability to reject calls with an SMS, it is not possible to select all SMS messages to mass delete. A last feature is the ability to create SMS drafts so that you can compose a message and send it later. Lava Iris N400 Dual SIM phone with 4-inch display, Android 4.0 now available for Rs. 6,399

Lava Iris N400, Lava’s new Dual SIM Android smartphone in the Iris range is now available from online retailers Flipkart and Snapdeal. Unlike the Iris N320 and N350 that was launched recently, the N400 comes with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and has 3G support. It has a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It has a 5MP rear camera with LED Flash and a 0.3MP front-facing camera for video calling.  It has Dual SIM support similar to the Iris smartphones. LG Optimus L-Series smartphone sales surpass 10 million units globally

LG has announced that they have sold over 10 million units of Optimus L-Series smartphones globally. The Optimus L-Series Smartphones include, Optimus L3 that has a 3.2-inch display, Optimus L5 with a 4.0-inch (320×480 pixels), Optimus L7 with a 4.3 inch (480 x 800 pixels ) display and the Optimus L9 that has a 4.7-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display. LG announced the Optimus L3, L5 and L7 at MWC 2012 that was launched in India in May starting from the Optimus L3. It took 9 months for LG to achieve this feat starting from the Optimus L3 that went of sale in Europe in March.
