Xiaomi just launched the Mi 4 smartphone in India, as expected. It was announced back in July last year, packs a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 441 PPI, based one-glass solution (OGS), is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on MIUI 6 on top of Android 4.4 (KitKat). Apple reports record $74.6 billion revenue in FY Q1 2015, record 74.5 million iPhones sold

Apple has reported all-time record revenue of $74.6 billion with a record net profit of $18 billion in their earnings for the financial year Q1 2015 that ended December 27, 2014. Revenues were up 30% and earnings up 38% year-over-year. The international sales in this quarter is 65% of the quarter’s revenue, up 5% up compared to last quarter. Apple sold a record 74.5 million iPhones, compared to 23.4 million over last year, representing 46% growth, 21.4 million iPads, compared to 26 million year-over-year and 5.5 million Macs during the quarter. The main highlight of the smartphone is the 1820mAh battery that promises up to 11 hours of talk time and 527 hours of standby on 3G, 19 hours of talk time and 610 hours of standby on 2G. Lava has launched Iris X1 Mini and Iris X1 Grand, the company’s latest budget smartphones in the Iris X1 Series. It Iris X1 mini has a 4-inch WVGA screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, while the Iris X1 Grand has a 5-inch FWVGA IPS screen and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. Both the smartphones run on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). It promises Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Iris X1 Grand. Both these smartphones have the same design of last year’s Iris X1. Spice Group to invest Rs. 500 crores to set up mobile manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh

Spice Group today announced an investment of Rs 500 crores to set up a mobile manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Uttar Pradesh for setting up the manufacturing unit in the state. Under the MoU, the Government of UP will support Spice Group in establishing the facility in the state of Uttar Pradesh in a time bound manner and facilitate the necessary infrastructure, ecosystem and incentives under various schemes announced by the State and Central Government. Samsung invests Rs. 517 crores for the expansion of Noida mobile phone plant

Samsung India today announced that it has invested INR. 517 crores for the expansion of the Noida plant under the UP Mega Policy. The plan was inaugurated by Akhilesh Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow today. Samsung’s latest Z1 Tizen smartphone will also be manufactured at the Noida facility with most of the phone’s software being developed at the Noida Research Centre, it said. It has a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) display, is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera without flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It comes with 4G connectivity with VoLTE. It temporarily discontinued the smartphone in August, but it brought back the smartphone during Diwali in limited quantities for those who tried to buy the smartphone and failed earlier.
