WhatsApp recently made the new Material Design update for its app live on the Play Store. Now it has introduced a new Beta version of the app – v2.12.87 that goes another step ahead and replaces any remaining Holo aspects of the UI with Material Design elements. It brings about a few other changes as well.

Google has launched Asus Chromebox for meetings in India, along with new Chromebooks. This is aimed at organizations that lets them run and manage high-definition video meetings for any conference room. It brings together the usability of Google+ Hangouts and collaboration of Google Apps for Business to an easy to manage Chromebox, said the company.

Google has launched Xolo Chromebook and Nexian Air Chromebook in India. Both these have a 11.6″ (1366 x 768 pixels) IPS display and are powered by a 1.8 GHz Rockchip 3288 Quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A17 CPU and has ARM Mali-T764 GPU. These have 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot. The Nexian Air Chromebook has rugged splash-proof design.

Microsoft has launched the Lumia 540 Dual SIM in India, as we expected. It was announced last month and packs a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim. It has a 8-megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with wide angle lens.

After earlier reports, Airtel has officially launched its 4G LTE trails in Chennai. It is based on 1800MHz FDD-LTE band 3, which the company acquired last year. Chennai becomes the first city in the country to get the Airtel’s FDD-LTE service. It currently offers TDD-LTE services in Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Amritsar. It is currently offering complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at same price as 3G. Paytm is gearing up to raise $375 million from existing investor, Alibaba Group, as per a report from Live Mint. The online payment processor, owned by One97 Communications Ltd will be valued at $1.83 billion if the deal is through.

Flipkart is inching closer to secure $550 million (Rs 3,300 Cr) in latest round of funding, as per a latest report from the Economic Times. If the latest deal goes through, the homegrown e-commerce firm will reach a valuation of nearly $16 billion.
