Aadhaar mandatory for mobile connections, re-verification process to be completed within a year

After making Aadhaar compulsory for filing income tax returns and applying for PAN, the government has announced that Aadhaar mandatory for mobile phone connections, following an order of the Supreme Court last month. The Department of Telecom has announced that all telecom operators will have re-verify all existing mobile subscribers (prepaid and postpaid) through Aadhaar based E-KYC process within a year.

Gionee introduced A1 selfie-focused smartphone in India earlier this week, but it didn’t reveal the price. As promised, the company has announced that the smartphone will be available in India for Rs. 19,999.  The main highlight of the smartphone is its 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.06″ sensor, selfie flash and face beauty features. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 processor and has 4GB of RAM.

Flipkart to reportedly acquire eBay India

Earlier this week it was reported that Flipkart has raised $1 billion from a new and existing investors and is planning for another $1 billion. Now, a latest report from Factory Daily suggests, the homegrown e-tailer is set to acquire eBay India as part of its fresh funding round of around $2 billion. LG has launched Stylus 3, the company’s latest smartphone with a stylus pen in India. It was introduced ahead of CES 2017 and packs a 5.7-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display and has a 1.8mm diameter fiber-tip stylus that promises feel and feedback of an actual pen when writing on the screen. OPPO just launched F3 Plus, the company’s latest selfie-focused smartphone in the ‘F Series’ at an event in India, as it had promised. The main highlight of the smartphone is its 16-megapixel front-facing camera  with 1/3.1-inch sensor and f/2.0 aperture along with an 8-megapixel secondary front camera with 120-degree wide-angle lens for capturing better group selfies. It also has a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, Sony IMX398 sensor and dual phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) technology.

Lava today launched Z10 and Z25, the company’s latest smartphones in the new ‘Z series’.  Both the phone have 8-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash. The Z10 has a 5-inch HD display with 1.9mm narrow bezel and the Z25 comes with a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display and 2mm narrow bezel. Z25 also has a fingerprint sensor on the back for unlocking  the phone in 0.16 seconds. Samsung Pay launched in India officially, has Paytm and UPI integration

After taking registrations for early access a few weeks back, Samsung today officially launched Samsung Pay mobile payments service in India. It has partnered with Visa, MasterCard and American Express, who act as gateways. It currently supports Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Cards and Standard Chartered Bank cards, and will soon support Citibank India.
