Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Google has entered into a two-year deal to market the Android mobile operating system and Google Mobile Services in order to promote the usage of Android devices in India. Reliance becomes the first telecom operator in the country to collaborate with Google. They offer 1GB of free 3G data usage for one month to all Android device users in India. Huawei has officially launched the Honor and Ideos X5 Pro in India. The Honor went on sale earlier this month online and packs in 4-inch ( 854 x 480 pixels) LCD capacitive touchscreen display, 1.4GHz processor, 8 MP AF camera with 720p HD video recording at 30 fps, 0.3MP front facing camera. The Ideos X5 Pro (also called new Ideos X5) is the successor of Ideos X5 that was launched last June. It has 3.8-inch (800×480 pixels) TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen display and is powered by 1GHz processor. It has 5MP camera with Flash and 720p HD Video recording. Both phone run on on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Airtel has launched India’s first 4G service in Kolkata. It is based on TD-LTE. The Airtel 4G website went live yesterday and the 4G plans starts from Rs. 999. As the Airtel 4G website went live few hours ago , the tariffs have also appeared on the site. The plans start from Rs.999 for 6GB of data and the top-end plan is Rs.1999 for 18GB of data. There is also a plan for Rs.1399 which gives you 9GB of free usage. Initially , these plans will be available only over USB modems and will be available on both Prepaid and Postpaid. After you cross the free data quota , your speed will be throttled to 128 Kbps as per Fair Usage Policy.

When Airtel was telling us about 4G launch plans , you might have thought they were kidding as we are still getting used to 3G. But the Airtel 4G website just went live. The 4G LTE networks promises speeds up to 40Mbps. The network uses 4G LTE-TDD technology which supports speeds up to 100 Mbps.Initially access will be based on a 4G USB Modem and then a 4G LTE Indoor Wireless Gateway option would be available. Tariffs look attractive for most users but not for heavy downloaders with plans starting at Rs.999 per month for 6GB and Rs.1999 for 18GB. According to the website the plans will be available both on prepaid and postpaid. You will need a new number for airtel 4G LTE which will be using an USIM module.
