This is out and out a mid range device from Samsung, building upon the success of the original, which was quite popular for its price tag and the value it offered. It just got better with the S Duos 2, but not as much as one would expect. Airtel releases carrier update for iPhone 5s and 5c ahead of LTE roll out

Airtel already confirmed their plans to roll out 4G LTE service on smartphones for customers in Bangalore later this month. Some of our users have received a carrier settings update on the iPhone 5s and 5c that enables the 2300 MHz LTE (Band 40) on their smartphones. This was first spotted by BGR India. Airtel’s TD-LTE service works only on that particular band (40) which is rarely seen in smartphones that are currently sold in India. Xolo launched the A600, its mid range entry in the A-series sometime back in November. It’s a neat little device, powered by a MediaTek 6572W dual core processor and has modest specifications for its cheap price – Rs. 8,199. We have got it for unboxing today, and we kinda like how this device looks and feels. Yes, this is a cheap device, but that hasn’t stopped other similarly priced devices like the Nokia Lumia 520 to stop short on build quality, and we think there is something very similar happening here, with the Xolo A600. Idea Cellular has launched Idea NetSetter MF677, a new version of 3G USB dongle, in four of its 3G circles in India. The new dongle offers speeds up to 21.6 Mbps and also lets users transfer data, stream media, and send SMS messages seamlessly while on the move. It is also India’s first Microsoft Windows 8 / 8.1 and Windows RT certified device and is also compatible with Windows, Linux and MAC operating systems as well as backward compatible on EDGE and GPRS. Asus and Google launch the new Nexus 7 in India officially

The new Nexus 7 (2013) manufactured by Asus went on sale on the Play Store in India last month along with the Nexus 5. Now the company has officially launched the latest Nexus 7 tablet in India. It has a 7-inch 16:10 Full HD (1920 x 1200 WUXGA) display with 10-finger multi-touch, powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064-1AA, with Krait 300 cores) processor clocked at 1.5GHz and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), which already got the KitKat update. Samsung has launched the Galaxy S Duos 2, the company’s latest smartphone in the Galaxy series in India officially. It went on sale last week, and packs a 4.0-inch WVGA(480×800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with Dual SIM support with Dual SIM always-on feature and packs a 1500mAh battery with up to 8 hours of talk time.

Videocon Telecom launches new voucher to cut outgoing roaming call rates by 50%

Videocon Telecom has introduced a new tariff voucher that reduces outgoing roaming call rates by 50 percent. This pack lets customers make local calls at 50 paise per minute and STD calls at 75 paise per minute while roaming across India. Videocon was the first operator in India to make incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. The company launched 3 free National Incoming Roaming packs recently with free incoming calling minutes while roaming on other networks. Xolo Play Tegra Note was expected to launch in India in October, but it didn’t happen. Now the Tegra 4-powered 7-inch Android tablet has appeared on Flipkart. This is a re-branded Tegra Note tablet that was announced back in September and Xolo was announced as a partner for India launch. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with support for NVIDIA DirectStylus technology and also comes with a stylus pen. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

Airtel to launch 4G LTE on Smartphones in Bangalore this December

Airtel launched 4G LTE services in Pune last October, and rolled out the 4G TD-LTE service in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Punjab, but it doesn’t support voice or SMS currently. Earlier this year Airtel had announced that they would offer voice services for 4G customers in Pune. The company recently shared on Twitter that they plan to introduce 4G services for customers with 4G-enabled smartphones. India to seek US help in monitoring messaging services such as BBM, WhatsApp and Viber

India will seek US help to intercept chats from mobile messaging services such as Viber, Whatsapp, Skype, WeChat and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), according to a recent report from The Economic Times. Police chiefs of both the countries would meet in the national capital in a two-day meet on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the matter, says the agenda note circulated by the Indian Home Ministry. It has a 5-inch qHD IPS screen similar to its predecessor, but this is based on On-Cell capacitive touch solution.
