Meizu’s always been lauded for their design, right from the M9 to the soon-to-be-replaced MX3. I would’ve mentioned the M8 there as well, but the device bore too much of a resemblance to the iPhone to make it an original design.
IUNI is far from a household name in countries other than China, but the wily maker has been making a lot of noise since late last year.
The company launched the IUNI U2 earlier this year amidst huge fanfare. Why the anticipation for a virtually unknown maker, you wonder? Well, that’s because the U2 promised to be an HTC M8 killer with the VFM proposition it brought on board.

Vertu has priced its most recent launch ‘New Signature Touch’ at whopping Rupees 7.5 lakhs. Many would question if there really is a market for such expensive mobile devices? The answer is – yes there is! Proof of which is Vertu’s survival in the industry, for nearly 15 years.
The target audience for such expensive phones is extremely niche and thus very selective. They want to be seen carrying devices that set them apart from the crowd. Vertu has successfully catered to this audience with its uniquely hand-crafted mobile devices. Yet, its beautifully packaged mobile phones failed to deliver the latest in technology. To give the current Samsung flagship a touch of style, a Blue colour variant of the device will be making its way soon. The Blue version of the Galaxy S5 will however be available only in the US, in the initial phase at least, via Best Buy. The Galaxy S5 has been on sale for quite a few months now, and it is not often that Samsung pulls off something like this.

THL are a Chinese OEM thatstarted off as manufacturers of cloned devices from well-known manufacturers such as HTC. In fact, the THL logo looked a lot like HTC’s yesteryear logo some months back, both of which have changed since.
InFocus are known for their extensive list of hardware offerings, from smartphones to projectors. The Taiwan-based maker announced their entry into the flagship race sometime back in the form of a very affordable yet powerful smartphone.

The first two Xiaomi flash sales left quite a few disappointed, after they were unable to purchase the device. Both times, the Mi 3 went out of stock pretty quickly; 39 minutes the first time, and an astounding 5 seconds is what the Xiaomi Mi 3 took to go out of stock during the first and second flash sales respectively.

We have spoken about a 4G LTE variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note that was believed to be in the works previously, but today was the first time that we got to have a look at the very device. Ditching the octa-core MediaTek processor for a better-compatible, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928, the 4G LTE version of the Redmi Note looks more or less identical to the initial version. The Redmi (Hongmi) got similar treatment from Xiaomi when it was updated to a Snapdragon 400 SoC from the MT6582 earlier this year.

Worldwide smartphone market grew 23.1% year-over-year in the Q2 2014, with record shipments of 295.3 million units in a single quarter in Q2 2014, up 2.6% compared to last quarter, according to a report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). The main reason for increase in shipments is rapid growth of low-end smartphones and decrease in shipments of feature phones.
