In May 2019, International Data Corporation(IDC) published a report regarding the worldwide smartphone shipments in Q1 2019 and HUAWEI posted 50.3% growth while Apple shipments were down 30.2%. Similarly, IDC has published new reports and it shows that worldwide smartphone shipments have declined 2.3% YoY in Q2 2019.
According to a report from Counterpoint Research, the smartphone shipments in India reached 37 million units during Q2 2019 which is a shipment-record in the second quarter and top 5 smartphone brands contribution reached the highest ever level in Q2 2019.

Tambo has launched the TA-40 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in India. It has a 5.45-inch 18:9 aspect ratio display, is powered by a quad-core SoC with 1GB of RAM, has a 5-megapixel front and rear cameras with LED flash, face unlock, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 2400mAh battery.
According to IDC, worldwide smartphone shipments are expected to decline by 3% in 2018 before returning to low single-digit growth in 2019 and through 2022. Despite the on-going US-China trade war, IDC says that it believes that continued developments from emerging markets, combined with potential around 5G and new product form factors, will bring the smartphone market back to positive growth. Yandex, the leading Internet company in Russia has introduced Yandex.Phone, the company’s latest Android smartphone. It has a 5.65-inch FHD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, is powered by Snapragon 630 with 4GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Yandex Launcher, has a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel secondary camera for portait shots, and a 5-megapixel camera on the front that also has an LED flash.

Razer just announced the Razer Phone 2, successor of last year’s Razer Phone, as it had promised. The phone packs a 5.72-inch Quad HD 120 Hz UltraMotion display delivering fastest refresh rates and smooth graphics suitable for gaming, same as the predecessor, but this has 645 nits, making it brighter than the predecessor. This is powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 with Vapor Chamber Cooling that allows heat to spread throughout the phone via a custom vapor chamber which vastly increases the surface area for heat to dissipate, resulting in fewer hot spots and up to 8GB of RAM.
Shenzhen-based HOMTOM has forayed into the Indian market with H1, H3 and H5 series of smartphones with 18:9 aspect ratio display, feature dual rear cameras, run Android 8.1 (Oreo), comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back as well as face unlock. The company said that it has a global presence, across varied geographies like South Asia, Middle East, Russia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and North America and has opened office in Noida, India. RED finally has announced the launch timeline of its first smartphone; Hydrogen One. The phone was first announced back in July 2017 and its unique selling point is a holographic display. Though the initial launch date was Q1 2018, after delaying it for a while the company has now finally mentioned that it is coming to AT&T and Verizon in the USA and Telcel in Mexico. According to the research data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), smartphone vendors shipped a total of 342.0 million units in the Q2 2018, resulting in a 1.8% decline when compared to the 348.2 million units shipped in the second quarter of 2017.
