Even though solid hardware is important for a smartphone, software with regular software updates and competitive pricing are important for the success of a smartphone. Micromax intelligently roped in Cyanogen Inc. for its first YU branded device and launched the YU YUREKA budget smartphone last month running Cyanogen OS at Rs. 8,999. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G went on sale in India last month for Rs. 9,999. Both the smartphones are competitively priced and come with 4G connectivity. You might have already seen the photo gallery comparing the YU YUREKA and the Xiaomi Redmi Note. The Redmi Note 4G has the same design, but the internals are slightly different. We decided to compare these smartphones.

Lenovo has launched the Tab 2 A7-10, the company’s latest budget tablet in the A-series. It was announced at the CES last week, packs a 7-inch (1024 x 600) IPS display, is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT8382M SoCs and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. It has WiFi support, VGA front-facing camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage with expansion slot and packs a 3450mAh battery. It has front-facing speaker, Dolby audio and comes pre-loaded with Lenovo DOit apps. Samsung has official announced the Galaxy A7, the company’s latest smartphone in the A series with a metal unibody design and 6.3mm thickness. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC in the dual SIM variant and the single SIM LTE variant is powered by s Exynos 5430 SoC. Even the dual SIM Snapdragon variant comes with LTE support depending on the market. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Samsung’s own UI on top. Oppo R5 Benchmarks

Oppo launched the Oppo R5 (R8106), the company’s slimmest smartphone in India last month for Rs. 29,990. We already brought you the photo gallery of the smartphone from the announcement and the unboxing recently. Here we have the benchmarks of the Oppo R5.  It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor that has four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.54 GHz per core and other four Cortex A53 cores are clocked at 1.0 GHz per core. It has Adreno 405 GPU clocked at 550 MHz. It has 2GB DDR3 RAM, 5.2-inch 1080p screen and runs on Color OS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). We had already seen some smartphones powered by the same Snapdragon 615 chip, including the YU YUREKA. Check out the synthetic benchmark scores below.
