Google released Android developer preview for Android ‘12’, the next major Android release, back in February and released the DP 2 in March and the DP 3 last month. The company today started rolling out Android 12 beta 1 for its Pixel smartphone range, after it was announced at the I/O today. Beta 1 will also be available for 10 more brands including ASUS, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, SHARP, TECNO, TCL, vivo’s iQOO, Xiaomi and ZTE, in addition to all the Pixel phones (Pixel 3 and later). Google has released the Android 12 Beta 1 update at the Google I/O. It says that the Android 12 includes the biggest design change in Android’s history and is the most significant UI update to Android yet, created with a design language that it calls Material You. This includes a new UI that adapts to you, improved performance, new privacy features like approximate location, and a new standard called Performance Class that lets apps and users identify high-performing devices. POCO F1, launched back in 2018, has almost reached EOL in terms of official software support. The smartphone has already received two major Android version upgrades – Android 9, and Android 10 since its launch. Though POCO F1 is expected to receive MIUI 12.5 update in the next couple of months, it will remain on Android 10.

Google has released the third Developer Preview for Android 12 weeks before the Android I/O. This comes after its first Android 12 preview release in February, and Developer Preview 2 in March. The update brings new app launch experience, new video and camera capabilities to help developers get more out of underlying hardware support, and a new permission for exact alarms to help users save battery. Having unused apps is quite a common occurrence among Android users. To reduce the impact of these apps on the device, Google is reportedly developing a feature in Android 12, where the temporary files stored by the app would be deleted, freeing up storage.
At its Spring Reloaded event Apple has introduced new iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch models powered by the M1 chip for a massive 50% leap in CPU performance and 40% fast GPU performance compared to A12X Bionic in the predecessor. The 11-inch model has a LED-backlit Liquid Retina display and the 12.9-inch is the first model to feature a mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display.
