Nokia 3.1 A and Nokia 3.1 C with 5.45-inch HD display, Snapdragon 429, Android Pie announced

HMD Global has introduced Nokia 3.1 A and Nokia 3.1 C, the company’s latest budget smartphones for US Carriers AT&T and Cricket Wireless, respectively. These have a 5.45-inch HD 18:9 aspect ratio screen, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 SoC, run Android 9 Pie, feature  8MP rear camera with flash, 5MP front camera, polycarbonate body and a 2900mAh battery with USB Type-C.

AT&T now lets you pay your phone bills with Bitcoin

AT&T has become the first major U.S. mobile carrier to accept payment in cryptocurrency. AT&T customers can now use BitPay to pay online bills using Bitcoin (BTC). Customers will be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they log on to their accounts online or with the myAT&T app.

EE to launch 5G services in six cities in UK on May 30

EE; UK’s mobile network that is part of BT Group today announced that it will launch 5G in Uk starting in six cities: London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast from May 30th. It will also introduce new 5G plans, a range of six new 5G smartphones and devices. Airtel launches Rs. 249 pre-paid plan with Rs. 4 lakh Life Insurance cover and Rs.129 plan with unlimited calling

Airtel has been revising its prepaid and postpaid plans recently and last week, the company launched a new Rs.299 prepaid recharge plan with Amazon Prime subscription bundled. Similarly, today, Airtel has launched two new prepaid recharge plans i.e., Rs. 129 plan and Rs.249 prepaid recharge plan. The Rs.249 prepaid recharge plan also comes with Rs.4 Lakhs Life Insurance bundled.

Airtel launches new Rs. 48 and Rs. 98 data packs with 28 days validity

Airtel has introduced new monthly data packs for pre-paid users in two denominations. The Rs. 48 pack comes under 3G/4G data pack that offers 3GB of data with 28 days validity.  The Rs. 98 pack comes under Special Tariff Voucher (STV) Combo that includes 6GB of data and 10 national SMS with 28 days validity.

Reliance Jio leads feature phone market in India in Q1 2019

Jio launched its feature phone, JioPhone in June 2017 in India. The phone sported a candy bar design, came with support for 4G VoLTE and had support for 22 Indian languages.  The successor to the JioPhone i.e., JioPhone 2 with QWERTY keyboard was launched in July 2018. Jio saw great sales of both the smartphones and today, new reports have emerged that Jio becomes the leader in the feature phone market.

Reliance Jio reports Rs. 840 crore profit in FY Q4 2018-19, crosses 300 million subscribers

Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 11,106 crore revenue, up 7.0 % QoQ and 55.8 YoY and a net profit of 840 crore, up 1.1% QoQ and 64.7% YoY for its seventh quarterly financial performance for the period that ended 31st March
2019.  Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 4,329 crore, up 6.8% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 39%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 2,585 crore, up 9.1% QoQ . Reliance Jio acquires Haptik in a deal valued at Rs. 700 crore

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today announced that its subsidiary Reliance Jio Digital Services Limited (RJDSL) has entered into a definitive business transfer agreement with Haptik Infotech Pvt Ltd (Haptik). On a fully diluted basis Reliance will hold about 87% of the business with the rest being held by Haptik founders and employees through stock option grants.
