Airtel, Vodafone struggle to pay AGR dues to DoT after SC order

On Friday, the Supreme Court (SC) heavily criticised the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for not collecting AGR dues from telecom operators such as Airtel and Vodafone after failing to meet its January 24th deadline. Airtel will reportedly pay Rs. 10000 crores for now while Vodafone has informed the SC that they will only be able to Rs. 2500 crores now.

Vodafone launches new Rs. 499 prepaid plan with Unlimited Calling, 70 days validity

Late last year, Vodafone Idea and other telecom operators revised prepaid plans and increased tariffs by up to 40%. After revising the tariff, Vodafone came up with a new Rs. 997 prepaid plan recently and following that, now Vodafone has launched the new Rs. 499 prepaid plan which is positioned below Rs. 599 plan and above Rs. 398 plan.

Airtel has launched new Rs. 179 pre-paid bundle with built-in Bharti Axa Life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh, unlimited calling to any network, 2GB data, 300 SMS and a validity of 28 days. It also includes Airtel Xstream App Premium and Wynk Music. The company already offers Rs. 149 with similar benefits, but without life insurance. Reliance Jio reports Rs. 1350 crore profit in FY Q3 2019-20, crosses 370 million subscribers

Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 13,968 crore revenue, up 6.4% QoQ and 28.3% YoY and a net profit of 1,350 crore, up 62.5% YoY for last quarter that ended 31st December, 2019. Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 5,601 crore, up 8.4% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 40.1%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 3,805 crore, up 12.2% QoQ . Consolidated value of services stood at 16,466 crore, up 6.4% over trailing quarter. It has 370 million subscribers as of 31st December, with net addition of 14.8 million during 3QFY20. Airtel WiFi Calling now available across India; crosses 1 million users

Earlier last month, Airtel rolled out VoWiFi a.k.a Wi-Fi Calling in Delhi and gradually expanded to other cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore. The company later officially launched the service and made it available in many cities. Now, Airtel has officially announced that its Wi-Fi Calling service is available across India and has crossed 1 million users.

Airtel Wi-Fi Calling launched in more circles, now supports more devices, works on non-Airtel broadband connection

Last month Airtel rolled out Voice over Wi-Fi services officially starting from Delhi NCR, later it expanded to Mumbai, Kolkata,Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Today the company has launched Wi-Fi Calling in Kerala, Gujarat, UP (West), Maharashtra, UP (East), Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Previously it was compatible only with Airtel Xstream Fiber home broadband, now it works with all broadband services and Wi-Fi hotspots, even though the site still says it works only on Airtel broadband.
