Bharti Airtel has tied up with Google to launch of Free Zone powered by Google that would let Airtel mobile customers access to Google Search, Gmail and Google+ in India. These don’t work with the Google apps, and you need to use mobile web search and feature-phone-friendly versions of Gmail and Google+ . The first page of a website linked from search results is provided at no data cost. It is also optimized for non-smartphones or feature phones with data access. Airtel 4G plans now start from Rs. 450, partners with BigFlix and Indiagames for movies and games bundle

Airtel has introduced new plans for their 4G customers that now starts at Rs. 450. Airtel introduced 4G TD-LTE services last year, first in Kolkata with plans starting from Rs. 999 with 6GB of free monthly data. Now the new Rs. 450, Rs. Rs. 650 and Rs. 750 plans come with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB of free monthly data, respectively. Airtel has also increased the data limit for the plans starting from Rs. 999 which would come with 10GB of free monthly data limit. Airtel cuts 2G data rates up to 90% on select plans

Airtel has slashed the 2G data rates up to 90 percent on select plans for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana, reports The Times of India. This comes after Vodafone’s move to cut 2G data rates up to 80% for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) in Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. Nokia and Facebook partner to offer free Facebook access on Asha 501

Nokia unveiled the Asha 501 at an event in Delhi earlier today. At the launch Nokia has announced that they have partnered with Facebook to offer free Facebook access on Airtel subscribers in Africa and India. Facebook app comes pre-loaded on the Asha 501, apart from range of apps including Foursquare, LinkedIn, Nimbuzz, Twitter and more. You might have seen Airtel’s Re. 1 Mobile Video commercial on TV during the IPL. The company has officially launched the Re. 1 mobile video downloads. This new VAS service would let you download videos across 8 genres including movies, lifestyle, music, comedy and more from a vast collection of 30,000+ videos. Qatar Foundation buys 5% stake in Bharti Airtel for $1.26 billion

Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecom operator will sell 5 percent stake to Doha-based Qatar Foundation Endowment for $1.26 billion (~Rs. 6,800 crore) by issuing 199,870,006 new shares at a price of Rs. 340 apiece, according to a recent report from Economic Times. Bharti reported its 13th successive drop in quarterly profits yesterday, with a near 50 percent fall in profits compared with a year earlier. This move would ease the debt burden on Airtel. Airtel has launched 2 new International Roaming Packs for post-paid mobile customers in India travelling to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, Germany, UAE and UK. This offers up to 2 hours of free incoming calls and outgoing calls for as low as Rs. 40/minute. Airtel launched US International Roaming Voice packs for post-paid customers last year that offers up to 87% discount on voice calls and up to 5 hours of free incoming calls. Supreme Court has ordered Bharti Airtel not to extend its 3G Intra-circle roaming services to new customers in the 7 circles, where it did not have licences for 3G spectrum, according to a report from The Economic Times. Airtel got a temporary relief earlier this week, when Supreme Court allowed them to continue their 3G intra-circle roaming till April 11th. Last month DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact with Vodafone and Idea . Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. The Department of Telecom (DoT) have asked Vodafone India and Idea Cellular to stop 3G services outside their licensed zones in 3 days, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT has also asked these companies to pay Rs. 550 and Rs. 300 crore, respectively for violating licence norms. DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles last month and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Airtel launches 40 Mbps VDSL Broadband in Hyderabad

Airtel has launched 40 Mbps Broadband on VDSL (Very-high-speed digital subscriber line) technology in Hyderabad. Airtel currently offers broadband speeds up to 16Mbps on a DSL broadband in the city, and the new 40 Mbps on a VDSL broadband enables the customers enjoy high definition video streaming, online multiplayer gaming, and lots more easily. Airtel has introduced 2 plans, Ultrasonic 3999 and Ultrasonic 3299 that offers 200 GB data and 100 GB data, respectively.

Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula in Punjab

Airtel has launched their 4G LTE services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula in Punjab and Haryana, followed by Kolkata, Bengaluru and Pune. All the 4G plans remain the same, but Airtel has added a new plan called Break free Supreme that would offer 50GB of free data at Rs. 4,799. These plans are available for both the pre-paid and post-paid customers in Punjab. There are also introductory cash back offers along with the new Break free Supreme plan for post-paid customers. Airtel can continue 3G Intra-circle roaming till final order, says Delhi HC

Delhi High Court has temporarily stalled the execution of the Department of Telecom’s (DoT) order asking Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles in 3 days, where they did not acquire the license, according to a recent report from Economic Times. Bharti Airtel challenged the DoT’s order in the Delhi Hight Court last week, and the court ordered them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for violating licence norms. The Department of Telecom (DoT) may ask Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles in India, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT had already sent a notice to Airtel to stop their 3G services in these 7 circles including, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (East), Kolkata, Gujarat, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh. Airtel launches new roaming pack for prepaid customers in Delhi

Airtel has launched a new roaming pack for their prepaid mobile customers in Delhi that would let them enjoy free incoming calls while roaming in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and West Bengal (except Kolkata). This pack costs Rs. 21, and offers free incoming calls for 30 days while roaming in any of these states. National roaming usually costs Re 1 per minute, this pack eliminates such charges, at least in these states when the pack is activated.
