Apple iPhone sales in India soar to 55%, more than doubled YoY

Apple revealed its Q2 financial report today by recording $45.6 billion in revenues. The company shipped 43.72 million iPhones in the last quarter in addition to 16.35 million iPads. Giving insights about its performance in India, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that iPhone sales have increased 55% over the past year.

Broadcom BCM23550 quad-core SoC powers the Lava QPAD e704 tablet


Lava partnered with Broadcom recently to launch the QPAD e704 tablet with a quad-core Broadcom SoC earlier this month for Rs. 9999. Broadcom has announced that it is powered by a quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 chip with HSPA+ support. Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Beam 2 (SM-G3858) in China. It got certified in China last month and has metallic build. The Galaxy Beam that was unveiled back in 2012 has plastic build. It has a 4.66-inch WVGA screen, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The built-in projector projects in WVGA resolution and has background color correction feature for better color output. Xiaomi confirms Indian entry along with 9 other countries

Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacturer known for its unique business model of selling its devices directly, announced its global expansion plans, starting with the hire of Hugo Barra, an Android executive from Google. Months after he joined, Xiaomi started its operations in Singapore, and ever since, we have been expecting more countries to be added to the list. Very recently, Xiaomi’s CEO Lin Bin and Hugo Barra visited Google’s MD in India, signaling a trigger of its operations here. And the company just announced it on Twitter, along with 10 other countries, where it will launch next.

HTC denies intent to purchase Nokia’s Chennai plant

Rumors have been floating around that HTC plans to acquire Nokia’s Chennai based plant to increase operations in India. The plant is considered the largest in the world and employs over 8000 people. It has a 5.5-inch (1920 ×1080 pixels) Full HD LTPS display from JDI with Corning gorilla glass 3 protection, powered by a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and runs on CyanogenMod 11S based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel camera Sony IMX214 stacked sensor with 6-element lens, f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash 4K video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.
