Phicomm has launched Energy 2 E670, the company’s latest 4G smartphone and the successor of last year’s Energy 653 in India. It has a 5-inch (1280 × 720 pixels) HD display, is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, similar to the predecessor, but it has 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, compared to 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage in the Energy 653. LeEco (formerly known as Letv) today announced that it sold 95,000 Le 1s smartphones in just 20 seconds in the second flash sale at 12 noon on Flipkart. Yesterday the company said that the registration number reached a record high of 9,20,000, today it said that it reached over 10,30,000 before the sale. It received 605,000 registrations and sold 70,000 units in just 2 seconds in the first flash sale last week. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support and comes only with 3G connectivity, and not 4G. Google today announced that it is now offering flood alerts through Google Public Alerts in India. This is provided by the Central Water Commission (CWC) using its observation stations for more than 170 areas. “These alerts are available on Google web search, Google Now cards in the Google app, Google Maps, and on the Public Alerts homepage, both on your computer and phone”, said google. Qualcomm Incorporated through Qualcomm Ventures has announced QPrize – Make in India contest in association with the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP). “The goal of this contest is to catalyze Indian entrepreneurs and the startup community to drive the entire value chain from innovation to manufacturing in India. The winner will receive an investment of Rs. 2 crores (approximately US$ 300,000),” said Qualcomm.

OnePlus slashed the price of OnePlus One smartphone permanently by $50 last year. Today the company has announced a $40 permanent price cut for the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 2 smartphone, which is now available for $349. “Additionally anyone who purchased the OnePlus 2 within the last 15 days, will be seeing a refund in price ($40, or the equivalent in your currency) in their account,” said the company.
