Hyderabad is seeing yet another boost in its technology prowess as Intel India has decided to set up its new design and engineering centre in the city. The centre is part of Intel’s expansion plan that will further strengthen collaborations with governments, industry, academia.
Tech giant Intel took on the stage at the Supercomputing event 2019 to unveil the new category of GPUs based on Xe architecture. Codenamed ‘Ponte Vecchio,’ it is high-performance, highly flexible discrete general-purpose GPU is architecture for HPC modeling and simulation workloads and AI training.

Intel has announced new eight new 10th Gen Intel Core mobile PC processors (code-named ‘Comet Lake’) in the U-series and Y-series for thin-and-light laptop and 2-in-1s for long battery life. These promise double digit performance gains compared with the previous generation and also includes Intel’s first 6-core processor in the U-series, faster CPU frequencies, faster memory interfaces and Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) and broader scaling of Thunderbolt 3. After reports, Apple and Intel have confirmed that Apple will acquire the majority of Intel’s smartphone modem business in a transaction valued at $1 billion. After Apple and Qualcomm announced a settlement, Intel has announced that it will exit the 5G smartphone modem business and complete an assessment of the opportunities for 4G and 5G modems in PCs, internet of things devices and other data-centric devices.
