BlackBerry Q10 Launching in India on June 6th in Delhi

BlackBerry showed off the BlackBerry Q10 alongside the first BlackBerry 10 device the Z10 during the BlackBerry 10 launch event back in January this year.  The Q10 is already on sale in the UK where I got my hands on one. Now the 2nd BlackBerry 10 device is making its way to India. The company has sent to invites for a launch event in Delhi on June 6th and is expected to announce the Q10 for the Indian market.

BlackBerry launches 0% EMI scheme for BlackBerry Z10 and Curve 9220, partners with Idea for BIS offer

It’s been quite a while since the BlackBerry Z10 launched in India, and that too, with a hefty price tag. To spur the sales of the device, the Waterloo company has now joined the “0% EMI” bandwagon by offering an EMI scheme for the only BlackBerry 10 device in the market as well as the cheap Curve device – the 9220. Like most other EMI schemes offered by companies like Samsung and Nokia, this will also feature Rs.0 down payment, 0% processing fee and 0% interest and the plan will be rolled out in 3000 BlackBerry outlets across India this weekend. One can choose to pay Rs. 4,799/- per month for 9 months, for the BlackBerry Z10 and Rs. 799/- per month for 12 months, for the Curve 9220.

NY Times app offers full access for free to BB10 users till 26th June

During the keynote at BlackBerry Live here in Orlando, the company announced that it has partnered with the New York Times to offer full access to its content through the BB10 application till the end of June. The native application offers an interface exclusive to BlackBerry 10 and integrates social features as well. BlackBerry Q5 Hands On

BlackBerry introduced two new devices running on its latest operating system, BlackBerry OS 10, earlier this year. Dubbed the Z10 and Q10, the two devices focussed on the upper end of the spectrum with their high end specifications. However the mid range market is still very critical for the smartphone manufacturer that is still fighting a battle to recover from dwindling market shares. The Q5 is its ploy to regain its lost share of the budget to midrange smartphone segment.

BBM Chat goes cross platform, to be available on Android, iOS alongside BB10

BlackBerry’s core strength – the BlackBerry messenger, in a surprising move, is going cross platform with iOS and Android versions of the very popular messaging platform to be made available in the coming months. It was announced right now, at its BlackBerry live conference in Orlando. The iOS as well as the Android app will be free on the respective stores. BBM will be compatible on all iOS devices running iOS 6 and Android devices running 4.0 ICS and above.

Over at BlackBerry Live in Orlando, CEO Thorston Heins just unveiled the brand new BlackBerry Q5, a BB10 device with a QWERTY keyboard aimed at the budget-minded mass market. The device comes in various colours like red, white, black and pink. It is all set to launch this summer in various emerging markets. The BlackBerry Q5 was previously known or codenamed the R10, and it looks very much like a Q10 with vibrant colours in matte plastic.

Looks like BlackBerry has found a replacement for Sunil Dutt who resigned as Managing Director of BlackBerry , India. BlackBerry has appointed Sunil Lalwani from within the company as the new Managing Director.He has been with the company since 2009 and was spearheading enterprise sales and has had stints at Nokia and Cisco in the past. Skype arrives on Blackberry Q10 in preview form

Skype had been telling us that they are indeed working on an app for Blackberry 10, and they have fulfilled that promise by releasing their ubiquitous voice, messaging and video calling app for the newly launched BlackBerry Q10, albeit in preview form. Note that this app is not native to the platform and is the Android app directly ported over to support BlackBerry’s emulation layer. It has launched just for the BlackBerry Q10 as of now, with optimized support for that screen size.
