BlackBerry Messenger for Android was supposed to go live last week, but the launch was paused after the issues caused by leaked the Android APK. BlackBerry announced a couple of days back that they have paused the roll out since the leaked APK brought 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours, even before the official release that created several issues when they were about to release these apps officially. Yesterday, BlackBerry announced their big Z30 and we brought you news that BBM will be available for Android and iOS very soon. After months of waiting, BBM will be finally available as a cross-platform service starting this week. BlackBerry have officially announced that BBM is be coming to Android on September 21st and to iOS on September 22nd.

BlackBerry’s core strength – the BlackBerry messenger, in a surprising move, is going cross platform with iOS and Android versions of the very popular messaging platform to be made available in the coming months. It was announced right now, at its BlackBerry live conference in Orlando. The iOS as well as the Android app will be free on the respective stores. BBM will be compatible on all iOS devices running iOS 6 and Android devices running 4.0 ICS and above.
