Xiaomi today introduced a new smart delivery option, powered by Smartbox, on its Mi online store as well as its Mi Store app that allows users to pick Smartbox as a delivery option, and get their online purchase delivered to a digital locker near their location. Blue Dart, FedEx , Delhivery, Xpress Bees & Ecom Express are the partners for delivery. Xiaomi MIUI 8.1.18 global beta update brings January Security Patch and optimizations

Xiaomi’s MIUI gets updated bi weekly including closed beta on every Tuesday and public beta on every Friday. Last Friday Xiaomi updated many of its devices including to MIUI 8.1.18 version and brought January security patch along with a few fresh changes to devices. Xiaomi India might be gearing up for Explorer Program for upcoming Redmi Note 5

Xiaomi has a tradition of involving Mi Fans in device exploration before the launch of Redmi Note models in India, these explorers get devices before the official launch and are expected to participate in challenges given by the company. For Redmi Note 3 company recruited 100 Mi Fans under the Mi generation program in 2016 and last year, company recruited 50 hardcore Mi Fans as Explorers to test and explore Redmi Note 4 before its official launch. It’s been a year since Xiaomi launched its budget champion in country and everyone is anxiously waiting for the successor of Redmi Note 4. Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 9.2 with App Vault, Gallery Editor and Mi Video app

Xiaomi announced the lightning fast MIUI 9 Global back in November 2017 with many fresh changes including Split Screen, Interactive and Fresh UI changes, New Gallery App, Calendar Cards, App Vault, New Notification Shade, Mi Video App, New Mi Explorer and Mi Drop. Xiaomi rolled out these features to MIUI Global Beta ROM users in past two-three months but most of these features are still not available for Stable ROM users. Xiaomi released MIUI 9 Global Stable update for its Mi MIX 2 smartphone back in November, and announced Android Oreo beta program for the phone for China ROM last month, now it has released MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 8.1.18 for the smartphone which is based on Android 8.0 (Oreo).

Xiaomi takes blame for WhatsApp obsolete error, announces a fix

WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging application. This is mainly due to the fact that, it is a cross-platform application and offers a lot of value-added services like voice calls, video calls, multimedia sharing, group chat, and not to forget the end-to-end encryption of these messages. On 13th January, several users, especially the ones with Xiaomi smartphones started noticing an error, which blocked the users from using instant-message with a message “This version of WhatsApp has become Obsolete on 13-Jan-2018” and asked the users to update the same using Google Play store. Xiaomi Mi TV 4A 50-inch 4K HDR TV with A.I. voice remote announced

Xiaomi introduced 43-inch and 49-inch 1080p, 55-inch, 65-inch 4K HDR TVs  and the cheapest 32-inch smart TV in the Mi TV 4A series last year. Now it has introduced a new 50-inch 4K HDR TV in the series. It has PatchWall, a UI layer on top of the Android OS that’s based on deep learning AI technology. Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Oreo update resumes with January security patch, includes bug fixes

Xiaomi started rolling out Android Oreo update for Mi A1 smartphone on 31st December as it had promised. Later it pulled the update due to bugs and said that it will resume in a couple of weeks after fixing the bugs. Now the company confirmed that it has started rolling out a new OPR1.170623.026.8.1.10 update for the smartphone that includes Android Security patch for January 2018 and also includes bug fixes.

Xiaomi suspends Android Oreo update for Mi A1, plans to release again within couple of weeks

Xiaomi launched the Mi Router 3C, a budget router in India back in May last year for Rs. 1199 and the Mi Wi-Fi Repeater 2 was launched in June for Rs. 999 . During festive sales it offered discount on the router and the repeater, now it has announced a permanent Rs.200 temporary price cut for both. Oculus and Xiaomi partner for Oculus Go and Mi VR Standalone VR headsets

Xiaomi and Oculus at the CES 2018 announced that they are working on two standalone VR headsets – Oculus Go and Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone that will be built by Xiaomi and will be powered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Mobile VR Platform. These don’t require cable, external sensors, or a mobile phone.
