HTC earlier this week started rolling out a new update (v1.26.709.3) for its flagship U11 smartphone in Taiwan that brings support for 1080p 60fps video recording as it had promised a few days back. Google has released Android distribution numbers for the month of August. Android Nougat adoption has increased to 13.5%, up 2% over last month. Nougat 7.0 was up 1.7% to 12.3% while, Nougat 7.1 increased to 1.2% from .9%. It is possible that before next month’s distribution, we will already see the arrival of Android O. Fossil has announced two new full round touchscreen smartwatches in its Q series – Q Venture and Q Explorist. Both the smartwatches run Android Wear 2.0
Google will introduce the next generation Pixel smartphones – Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 later this year. We recently saw renders of both the phones followed by an image that showed off front and back of the Pixel 2. Now, a couple of live photos of the Pixel 2 have surfaced thanks to GSMArena.

SHARP today announced AQUOS S2, its latest smartphone at an event in China, as it had promised. 5.5-inch (1080 x 2040 pixels) Full HD+ display with 84.95% screen-to-body ratio. It uses FFD (Free Form Display) technology to make small holes precisely in the screen for front camera and receiver. SHARP has announced that it will introduce AQUOS S2 with bezel-less screen at a global event in Beijing on August 8, which will go on sale in China on August 14. RED announced the HYDROGEN ONE Android smartphone with holographic display last month. The company did not show how it would look like. Now popular Youtuber Marques Brownlee has teased prototype of the phone on his channel to show how the phone will look like. He said he saw three different prototypes – a non-working unit with the final design and dimensions, one that shows the holographic display in action, and a third is a separate camera module with its own lens and sensor.

Google has released the final Android 8.0 O Developer Preview 4, as it had promised. This has final Android O APIs (API level 26) that was already available with the developer preview 3 along with latest bug fixes and optimizations, stable version of the Android 26.0.0 Support Library. Incremental updates to the SDK, tools, and Android Emulator system images will be available over the next few days. LG has announced Q8, a smaller version of the V20 smartphone in Italy. It has a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen along with a 2.1 (160 x 1040 pixels) second screen. It has a 16MP rear camera with 78-degree lens along with a secondary 8MP secondary camera with 135-degree wide-angle lens. It has a slightly smaller 3000mAh battery compared to 3200mAh battery on the V20 and this is non-removable since the phone has a unibody metal design.
