Android Oreo is now on 0.2% of devices, Nougat adoption hits 17.8%

Google is out with Android distribution numbers for the month of October. Android Oreo that was released little over a month ago, has entered the charts this month and is now present on 0.2% of all the devices. Google started rolling out Android 8.0 Nougat to Nexus and Pixel devices in late August.

Google is all set to unveil the next generation Pixel smartphones on October 4th, so that will be reflected in next month’s distribution numbers. Meanwhile, Android Nougat adoption has increased 2% to 17.8% this month. Android 6.0 Marshmallow continues to hold the largest percentage, at 32%, down from 32.2% since last month. Lollipop is at 27.7%, down from 28.8% while KitKat has also decreased to 14.5%, from 15.1%.  On the other hand Jelly Bean is down just a bit 6.6% from 6.9%. Finally, Gingerbread and Ice cream sandwich remained unchanged at 0.6%.

The data was collected during a seven-day period ending on October 2, 2017.
