Worldwide wearables market records 171 million unit shipments, 10.8% YoY growth in Q4 2021: IDC

The worldwide wearables market continued to grow during 2021, as the market recorded shipments of 533.6 million units during the entire year, which is a growth of 20% YoY. In Q4 2021 alone, the market witnessed a growth of 10.8% YoY after shipping 171 million units. The top 5 companies were Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung, HUAWEI and Imagine Marketing.

realme just launched realme 9 5G, the company’s latest mid-range 5G smartphone in India, as it had promised. It has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD screen with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate, 90.5% screen-to-body ratio and an 16-megapixel camera inside the punch-hole. The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, same as the realme 8s. It has up to 6GB of RAM with Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) technology, which can add up to 5GB to the existing 8GB RAM. Redmi K50 series with Dimensity 8100 / Dimensity 9000 to be announced on March 17

After the K50G was introduced last month, Redmi today confirmed the launch of other phones in the Redmi K50 series in China on March 17th. The K50G was launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and the other K50 and K50 Pro models should be powered by Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 9000 SoCs, depending on the model. Qualcomm partners ESL to launch Snapdragon Pro Series esports ecosystem

Qualcomm has announced a new partnership with ESL Gaming to launch a global mobile esports ecosystem called the Snapdragon Pro Series. It will consist of a global, multi-genre mobile esports competition and will culminate in a live masters final tournament with prize pool of nearly $2 million.

Apple may launch a redesigned MacBook Air with M1 and more colour options in 2022

Right as Apple finished their “Peek Performance” event yesterday, fresh rumours have surfaced about a new MacBook Air. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will launch the MacBook Air in late 2022 and will feature a new design, offer more colour options and will be powered by the same M1 SoC.

HMD Global not planning to launch a new Nokia flagship; will concentrate on entry-level and mid-range phones

HMD Global introduced the company’s flagship Nokia 9 PureView camera-centric smartphone at the MWC back in 2019. Even though it didn’t launch a flagship phone after that, there were rumours of a successor coming out in 2021, but it didn’t happen. In a recent interview to Android Authority, Adam Ferguson, HMD’s Head of Product Marketing, Global confirmed that the company is not planning to launch a new flagship.
