This week, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 Series. According to a recent report, the company plans to begin manufacturing the phone in India in two to three months, or during Q4 2022. Today, Bloomberg has reported that a Taiwanese supplier to Apple Inc. is in discussions with Tata Group to form an electronics manufacturing joint venture in India with the aim of assembling iPhones locally. Apple may be on track to increase India’s local manufacturing revenue to nearly $40 billion over the next 5 years, as a result of the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive scheme (PLI) for large scale electronics manufacturing. The scheme will be largely availed by two of Apple’s contract manufacturers, namely Winstron and Foxconn.

Apple today reports its earnings for the financial year Q2 2016. Even though Apple sold only 51.2 million iPhones in the quarter compared to 61.2 million in the year-ago quarter, down 16%, during the conference call Apple CEO said that iPhone is still attracting millions of first-time smartphone buyers each quarter, especially from emerging markets. Apple CEO Tim Cook at the Town Hall meeting at the Infinite Loop headquarters said that the Cupertino giant is in early preparations to bring its retail stores to India, reports 9to5Mac. He also said that India is one of Apple’s most important growth areas for the next decade. He commented that 4G LTE networks are not always available in an emerging market, which is why India makes for a great opportunity for Apple to sell it products. Apple has cut the price of all models of the iPad 2 in India after it announced the new version of the iPad earlier this week in the US.The entry level iPad 2 WiFi model gets the biggest cut of Rs.5000 whereas other models see cuts between Rs.2000 and Rs.4000. We already told you about the price of the 16GB WiFi only iPad 2 dropping to Rs.24500 , now we have confirmation from Apple that the entire iPad 2 line up will see a discount.
