LG India today confirmed to FoneArena at the LG Bloggers Meet today that the Optimus Vu is indeed coming to India later this year. The Optimus Vu is a 5-inch phone from LG which puts it in the same league as the Samsung Galaxy Note. The screen is one of the main highlights of the device and it packs a 1024x768px resolution. The phone packs 32GB of inbuilt storage and utilizes a microSIM card slot. It also comes with a capacitive stylus.

LG Optimus 4X HD launched in India for Rs. 34990


LG has launched the Optimus 4X HD, their first quad-core Tegra 3 handset in India. It was announced at MWC 2012 earlier this February. It has 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) True HD IPS display with 313 PPI and is powered by 1.5GHz Quad-core Tegra 3 processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and has an 8MP auto focus camera with LED Flash support, 1.3MP secondary camera. It is just 8.9mm thick. LG Optimus L5 launched in India for Rs. 13199

 LG has launched the Optimus L5 in India from the L-Style series of phones that was unveiled at MWC 2012 . Other L-Style series of phones, Optimus L3 went on sale in India in May and the Optimus L7 was officially launched in June. LG has officially launched the Optimus L3 in India today. The Optimus L5 lies between L3 and L7 that has 4.0-inch (320×480 pixels) Capacitive Touch screen display and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich with Optimus UI 3.0. Uninor offers free unlimited on-net local calls on Sundays for Tamil Nadu customers


Uninor has launched a unique offer that would let their customers make free unlimited local on-net (Uninor to Uninor) calls on Sundays. This offer is valid on every Sunday starting from July 22nd to August 26th 2012. Reliance launches new 3G Android tablet for Rs. 14,499

Reliance Communications has launched Reliance 3G Tab, a new 3G Android tablet, upgraded version of their previous tablet that was launched last year. It is manufactured by ZTE and has 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by 1.4GHz processor. It runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Samsung Galaxy Beam launched in India for Rs. 33,900


Samsung has launched the Galaxy Beam, successor of their previous Beam, in India. It was announced at MWC earlier this year and went on pre-order last month and went on sale last week. It comes with 4.0-inch 480×800 (WVGA) TFT display and is powered by 1 GHz Dual-Core Processor. It has 15 lumens pico projector that allows users to share photos, videos or other digital media instantly and in crisp clarity up to 50-inch wide, at a distance of 2 meters. It is 12.5mm thick. RIM launches Two BlackBerry Premium Stores in Mumbai

Research in Motion (RIM) has just launched new BlackBerry Premium Stores in 2 locations in Mumbai. They launched their first BlackBerry Premium Store in Delhi in April and in Gurgaon in May and in Bangalore recently. These two stores located at The Future Shop, 7, Palladium, Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel and The Future Shop, 325, Nawab Building, Dr. D.N. Road –Fort respectively. Qualcomm Q3 2012 results out

Qualcomm just reported its 3rd quarter fiscal 2012 results and profits have soared year on year owing to continued strong demand for 3G and 4G connected hardware. High sales and strong yearly growth have contributed to a bottom line of $4.63 billion in revenue.

Meanwhile net income is reported at $1.21 billion. MSM chipsets were the biggest contributors with 141 million units sold. Though sales were reported to be down 7% over the last quarter, the YoY growth is noted to be 18%. CEO Dr. Paul E. Jacob said that the sales drop was due to upcoming devices lined up for the holiday season.

Google Music receives major UI overhaul

The Google Music application has just received a major update bringing its user interface in line with the one shipping on the Nexus 7. The updated application follows the Holo UI principles similar to the Google+ app and there is a lot of focus on visuals with large images.  In addition some useful additions like adding new tracks to a playlist queue have been included.

Import ban on Motorola’s Android products goes into effect

We’d reported some time back on the International Trade Commission’s ruling that several devices from Motorola’s portfolio won’t be allowed to be sold in the US. The patent in question here is Microsoft’s innovation on email based meeting scheduling. This ban goes into effect starting today in the US.
