Lenovo and Yahoo have something in common – both of them won’t stop until they have bought out everything and everybody. The difference between them though is that Lenovo has went after big names like IBM ThinkPads, IBM Servers and Motorola while Yahoo is buying early stage startups.

UC Browser crosses 500 million users globally

UCWeb, popular for its mobile internet software and services has announced that the UC Browser has crossed 500 million users globally. Over 300 million UC Browser users are from Android, compared to 100 million in December 2012. It is among leading mobile browsers in India with market share of 32%, reveals StatsCounter data. 500 million user count is based on quarterly active users till March 2014, says UCWeb. Microsoft unveils Direct X 12, lists benefits for Mobile

After a long wait, Microsoft has finally unveiled its plans for the next generation of its graphics APIs, Direct X. These APIs were developed by Microsoft for making game development easier on Windows and eventually on all of its other platforms. It provided a standard way, an abstracted layer, for developers, to take advantage of complex graphics hardware. This spurred the PC gaming industry, until the recent years, in which the development of the API tapered off, with evolutionary additions.

With Direct X 12, which is apparently a big departure from the current programming model, Microsoft hopes to reinvigorate game development on all its products, right from PCs to phones, tablets and of course, the Xbox One. Direct X 12 was revealed at the Game Developers Conference with hardware partners in AMD, Nvidia and Qualcomm, to name a few, and will ship on products starting 2015.

Pocket, formerly known as “Read it Later”, is one of very common apps that I use to save articles from the web or anywhere. I have been an early adopter and have used the service right from the start and just love it. It basically allows you to save anything that you might want to read later. You can access your saved articles on the web, on various smartphones, tablets and across desktop platforms.

Samsung demos Samsung Galaxy S5 ahead of launch at Samsung stores and leading retailers

Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 at the Samsung UNPACKED event during MWC 2014 earlier this year. On February 24th, at the product launch function, Samsung said that the device will be available globally from April 11, 2014. With three weeks to go for the release date, Samsung has decided to give the people a demo of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The new update for the camera app (v3.2) lets users with Moto X, Moto G, or Droid Ultra capture images using volume keys, instead of touching the screen. Motorola has offered 48 updates since the Moto X launch in August, says the company. It just feels like yesterday, when almost all of us were in denial that a Nokia Android phone could exist, but Nokia has put forward its boldest bet ever, especially at a time when it has been acquired by Microsoft, a company that has been at odds with Google since forever. Anyways, the device was revealed to much excitement and curiosity at the Mobile World Congress event, and eventually arrived in India just few weeks later. We had unboxed the device and also showed you how to root it and get Google Play services and apps on it, but as you might have guessed by now, we were curious to find out more about the device over the course of our usage. So we made a few videos to showcase what we found and learnt, skip past the break to find them.

Google Search for Android gets voice actions to launch camera

Google has added new voice commands to Google Search for Android that lets you launch the camera app to take a photo or record a video by speaking respective commands. Google Search already has an option to open apps just by saying “Open Instagram” or “Open Facebook”.
