Google is looking forward to merge Chrome OS into Android, as per a latest report from the Wall Street Journal. The company is planning to fold its Chrome OS that is used in personal computers into the popular Android mobile OS by 2017.

Amazon Appstore offers over $95 worth free apps and games for limited period

Amazon Appstore is back with another free apps offer for Halloween. This month it offers 32 paid Android apps and games worth over $95 for free on the Amazon AppStore starting today till October 31st. These apps are usually priced between US$ 0.99 and US$ 11.99. Some popular apps and games include, Runtastic PRO, Time Mysteries, AVG AntiVirus PRO Android Security and more. Back in July Amazon Appstore offered 21 paid Android apps and games worth $45. Qualcomm denies heating issues on the Snapdragon 820

Qualcomm has issued a statement denying that the rumors stating that the Snapdragon 820 has over-heating issues is false. The Snapdragon 810 from Qualcomm did face over-heating which in turn gave rise to quite a few problems on the initial few devices that it ran on such as the LG G Flex 2 and HTC One M9.

The Nexus 6P is hard to repair – iFixit gives it a 2 out of 10 rating

One of the most worrying things these days is damaging your smartphone and the cost of having to fix it after that. Some people prefer to take things into their hands to cut the service costs and replace the parts themselves while others may choose to hand over their device to someone more experienced. In both cases, it helps if the device in question is easy to repair. The Nexus 6P unfortunately doesn’t seem like such a device.

Sony Mobile sales down 15.2% YoY in Q2 FY15, 6.7 million smartphones shipped

Sony Corporation has reported its revenues for second quarter of the financial year 2015 that ended September 30, 2015. Sales remained flat year-on-year at 1,892.7 billion yen ( US$ 15,773 million) with just 0.5% decease compared to the same quarter last year. Sony shipped just 6.7 million smartphones in the quarter compared to 9.9 million in Q2 FY14 and 7.2 million in the previous quarter. LG Q3 2015 profits down 37% YoY due to weak smartphone sales

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 14.03 trillion won (US$ 12 billion) in Q3 2015, 4.7% down compared to the same quarter last year with operating profit of 294 billion won (US$ 251.5 million), down 36.77% from the same period the previous year. Net profit was 124.8 billion won (US$ 106.76 million) during the quarter, down from 202.7 billion won a year earlier. Reason for less revenue is due to weak smartphone sales, but it reported strong earnings in home appliances and high-end televisions. Motorola introduced the DROID Turbo 2 with Moto ShatterShield, the world’s first shatterproof display earlier this week for Verizon. Today the company has announced that it will launch as Moto X Force globally. Apart from the name, other specifications are similar to the DROID Turbo 2, including 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 810 processor, Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and a 3760mAh battery. It has 4G LTE connectivity with support for range of LTE Bands (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 25, 28, 40).
